Hi Everybody,
With the New pricing coming in March of almost 1.00 for a Canadian Stamp I can only imagine what the US and International Stamps are going to be. And also the Parcel rates if they change. With a 40.00 ++ rate for a Tracked Parcel to Australia already I can only imagine what they are going to be. The Registered Mail now in Canada is fine inside Canada but once out side Canada they can not be Tracked any more or only once in awhile.

Going to be tough for us sellers 😞

According to Canada Post,
12-13-2013 08:06 AM
"Addressing the cost of labour:
With its current labour costs, Canada Post has a much higher cost structure than its competitors have. This is simply not
sustainable. The company will continue to bring the cost of labour in line with its competitors through attrition and collective bargaining over time. Canada Post will also take the necessary steps to permanently address the sustainability of its pension plan. A leaner workforce will create a more flexible and competitive Canada Post, able to respond quickly to the changing marketplace."
Same issues as Heinz and Kelloggs. Guess the Belleville plant recognized this and utilized a non-unionized and lower wage structure.

You made good wages in your day didn't you valve?
What does the CEO of Kelloggs make a year? I read it was 6 Million.
But the workers who actually do all the WORK........shouldn't be paid a fair wage?
Yeah I know, a lot of people hate unions because they need someone to blame, a scapegoat, while forgetting about the wrong decisions made by the executives in companies and those decisions hurt both the company from a financial point of view and eventually destroy the worker and their families and in some instances like Leamington the decisions damage a whole area. But do the executives take a cut? Are they fired? No.
As far as Heinz and Kelloggs are concerned.........please........do your research of the whole situations before blaming it on the unions.

"shouldn't be paid a fair wage?"
Same old question. What is fair?
Is $20 an hour for relatively unskilled labour working in a new factory fair?
Is $20 an hour competitive? Would an employer have trouble finding workers willing to do the job and work the shifts for that rate of pay?
Too often the words "union" or "unionized" get into those discussions. There should not be an implication that union = fair. Far from it. We see many unionized workers making much less than $20 an hour for relatively unskilled labour.

I retired from full time in 1994 and took on a part time job which I still hold. $15.50/hr makes it tuff to make ends meet.

I've always had a problem with the phrase "unskilled labour" because it is that labour that does most of the real work in our society and we wouldn't have a lot of what we have if it were not for that "unskilled" labour.......yet they are often paid the least. Meanwhile back at the ranch......you have someone with a degree, sitting in an office and doing much less but getting paid a bundle!
