For an INR do you ask the buyer to report it through ebay?
As mentioned earlier, I may have a buyer who emailed me indicating that he had not yet received his item in Spain. I asked him to wait until the end of this week and if the item had not yet showed up would refund him.
No I am 90% sure that this person is telling the truth, the item may show up but the delay is due to their mail and custom system. But at the end of the week, he will have waited a month and that is a reasonable time to wait.
Now should I ask him to do the INR through ebay, because then I can claim my fees back (or can I) and 2 because I am hoping ebay keeps track of buyers that constantly report that they never received items. (Ebay once told me that). Or just refund him in paypal and be done with it?
Oh yes I will send the "ricarmic" letter to him too!

I would just refund him in full via PayPal.

I don't want to report the buyer. I am just enquiring that the buyer go through ebay to report the INR, so I can get my fees back and there is a record of him claiming INR.

How much are the fees you will lose? Rhetorical question, of course , for your own consideration.
INR is not a Defect so I don't really see a problem with that, but I prefer to settle outside court if there is a problem. YMMV.
Don't forget to let him know he can repay the refund WHEN the record arrives by using Paypal's Send Money service.

NO!!!!!!
Don't do this, it could earn you a serious defect.
Easiest way all round is for the buyer to open an INR claim and then you immediately refund from the resolution centre.
You could see if the cancel link is still available for that listing and then cancel as "problem with address".
Personally I'd go the INR claim route, everything is papered then and it's just a click or two for you to get your fees and the buyer to get their refund.

I've refunded for an inr all 3 ways -- through PayPal, through an inr case and by using the cancel order option on eBay. The PP route would be my last choice because eBay fees are not credited but I don't agree that an out of stock defect would be given. I suppose if the item was never marked as shipped AND if there was no messages back and forth between seller and buyer, then their might be danger of a defect.
I do understand why someone would want to be certain that everything is done right and done through eBay.

I've done it all ways too. But when I was speaking to a CSR she told me that they track buyers that do not receive parcels all the time.
This is what I sent to him:
On Friday if your CD has not arrived please go to ebay and indicate that your parcel has not arrived. Doing this then will generate a case and I will then issue you a full refund. This way I will receive my ebay fees back and ebay can keep track of lost parcels, country, buyers etc. Assuming the parcel does arrive after that, please let me know and I will send another invoice so you can pay again (small parcels like this are not insured so I am out 100% if they do not arrive). 99% of the time parcels to Spain just take longer than they should to arrive. As I said I am so sorry that it has not arrived to date. I have also made the decision not to ship to Spain any longer because of the delays. Regards, |
