I have an interesting situation. And not interesting in a good way. lol I have a bidder who is a seller, a Power Seller no less who has committed the offence of Bid Shielding. She bid 6 separate times to reveal the maximum bid of the other bidders on my item then contacted me several times to cancel her bid.
I don't cancel bids. Maybe that's dum but I don't. I feel it's up to the bidder to be responsible for their actions and bid accordingly. Letting them get away with it only encourages them to do it again. They need to learn to be responsible for their actions. Plus if they really wanted to, they could retract their own darn bid. She knows how. She has 11 on her record. I suspect that if she retracts her bid it will look crystal clear that she is bid shielding so instead she bugs the seller.
Anybody know how many bid retractions are allowed before eBay looks into the account? They sure don't seem to do much about them on their own.
She's a nasty piece of work and is calling me all sorts of names but I haven't done anything wrong here. All I did was put up an item that she messed with.
It's a limited edition eye shadow from Bare Escentuals that the proceeds went to domestic violence. Some women got their knickers in a knot and call anyone that bought to resell a lovely batch of 4 letter word names. In the same vein as mumbies who get PO'd when kids toys like Tickle Me Elmo are sold on eBay. ROFLMAO! Get over yourself. It's called capitalism! Well, this one took it upon herself to mess with my listing by raising the bid to see the other bidders max then bugging me to cancel it. Which by the way, she feels she's entitled to do because I'm so 'greedy'.
I reported her to eBay. The stupid thing ends in a little over 5 hours from now and while I DON'T want to deal with her I don't want to cancel the bid either. I want the money and she committed herself to that bid.
Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

eBay is so flipping stupid. Sometimes I absolutely hate this place. Check this out:
Dear Debbi,
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your report about invalid bid retraction.
We are very concerned about violations on the site and have thoroughly investigated your report. The eBay Privacy Policy prevents me from discussing the specifics of our investigation. I can tell you, however, that in this instance we didn't find evidence that a violation occurred.
I understand your concern about this situation, and we can reopen the investigation if we receive additional information about the possible violation. Please feel free to contact the SafeHarbor team with additional information about this account.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply to this email and let us know.
Sincerely,
Carlyn
eBay Customer Support
HERE'S THE REPORT I SUBMITTED:
Account Security > Inappropriate activity > User is bidding/buying to
harass the seller or prevent sale
Item number(s):
180122803280
Message: This person bid 6 seperate times on my item in order to find out the maximum bid of the other bidders. This is NOT allowed on eBay.
She then has been bugging me to cancel her bid. She won't retract it because doing so would draw attention to her behaviour.
She has 11 bid retractions on her record and according to her feedback has a record of bidding high to reveal other's bids. I need you to investigate this person. She is a Power Seller and has enough transactions under her belt to know this behaviour is unacceptable.
Please investigate her for this. She has also committed other violations which I will be reporting.
Thank you,
Debbi
Apparently their keyword filter picked up retract and they spit out the crap about invalid bid retraction. Bunch of morons honest to god. *sigh* Now I have to fight with myself to not write a profanity filled response. LOL

you know...that is just so discouraging...discouraging, discouraging, discouraging...i assume you sent the emails that she sent to you bugging to cancel her bid? what more evidence do they need?!?!? she's got 11 bid retractions AND a negetive clearly stating her actions...DUH!!!!!!!!! you seem to be taking it well, i'd be real mad, but that's me...i would write them again and challenge their decision as far as what their basis is for their decision...or..is that "private + confidential"???

That isn't surprising! The seller that I reported for extremely excessive shipping charges is still going strong too.
Why have policies if they don't enforce them?
I'm glad it worked out for you Debbi.

This happens all the time with reserve prices. One bidder in particular routinely bids on all my crystal auctions to wonderfully high amounts and retracts their bids a few hours later. I have yet to see eBay act against the bidder no matter how many times I report it.
Reason for retracted bid by bidder on each and every retraction: Entered wrong amount... eBay needs to increase their repertoire of retraction excuses.
