How do I fix a search results glitch.

Quite often when I search it displays there is X number of items in the category but I can only view half or less as i scroll  through the pages.

For example it will say there is 684 results but i only get to see 200. It's Kind of annoying and makes me think I am missing out on my purchasing options.  Is there a setting I am missing somwhere?

It may be that some listings offer choices such as colours or sizes.
