How's the weather there?

We might be getting snow tonight here in Montreal.Today it's only 10 out and rainy and windy... bbrrr. I live 1 hour from the city so I know we will definately be seeing it tomorrow morning. I planted most of my annuals.
This weather lately is very depressing. Where is spring? Farmer's predict a cool and dry summer for here.Believe it or not I'm still heating!

Summer? I love summer.... All 8 days of it!
I live in Newfoundland and spring seems to run straight into fall. I also hate winter.... Which might be showing up on alot of tents this coming weekend. Great place to live though?

Yesterday was beautiful.. I think it went to 8 and was sunny. Might get into the mid teens here the weekend, but you never know. I arrived from vacation a couple of nights ago and had to scrape the windows of my car. I live just outside of St.John's, but grew up there. Just outside, means a 5 minute drive!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh dark, overcast, rainy and windy-great mood enhancers! all day yesterday, overnight, and all day today. but then a great weekend in store for the long holiday. i'm still heating here too sunshine. oh well...when it doesn't rain, we complain, when it does, we complain...(well...at least i do anyway:-D)

Sunny earlier but overcast now in Victoria BC. All last week was great - golfed at 7:30AM several mornings in short sleeves and it got up to 25C in the shade in our back yard yesterday afternoon!

We had a wild thunderstorm last evening. There were a series of storms that went through and hit some areas harder than others. There have been reports that twisters touched down and a possible (unconfirmed) tornado within a 40 to 50 mile radius of Stratford. My husband came home early from work because the plant where he works had no power. Hail the size of golf balls was reported too. It was hot and sunny yesterday until evening. Today is overcast and cooler.
But everything is green!!

high of 6 here today, didn't even make it to 10 😞 The wind chill feels like -15 crazy, crazy weather. Makes me glad I'm getting older. I would hate to see the weather here in 50 years. Very scary.

There WAS a tornado outside of Stratford on Tuesday night. It went through the town of Monkton. I was at an auction sale 10 minutes away on Perth Line 36, and we all saw the twister pass by. As it passed it took down trees, blew freshly planted soybeans right out of the ground, ripped trees in half, and in Monkton, ripped the roof off a barn, shredded the leaves on the trees, and left walnut sized hail!! I felt for about 3-5 minutes that the auction house might be destroyed. The windows were shaking, and the water was being driven into the building by the wind. The auction house floor flooded. I was SCARED!! Now I know what I will be thinking of when I do die. It's true what they say, scenes from my life did begin to pass by my eyes, but then the danger passed. WOW!!

I'm glad you are okay Phil. That must have been terrifying! They confirmed that it was an F1 tornado. It went around Stratford because it also touched down in Gadshill and Avonton which are VERY close to Stratford. I know I headed to the basement until it was over. There were a lot of trees down in Stratford too damaging homes and vehicles. At least they can be replaced or repaired. They said the hail damage to the crops is the worst in 20 years. Scary stuff!!
I am not sure where Perth line 36 is Kat but it is in Perth County, not near Perth, Ont. It would be near Monkton which is maybe 15 to 20 miles from Stratford.

Were rather lucky in Goderich. The storms tend to come off Lake Huron...hit the bluff and land in Clinton or further east. We live on the lake and it can be amazing to watch the storms literally roll in.

My husband and I spend as much time as we can in Goderich during the summer. A few years ago we were staying in a mobile home in a resort in Ohio when a tornado went through nearby. That was the same storm that hit Goderich. We drove through Goderich right after the storm and couldn't believe the amount of devastion it caused. I have lots of pictures that I took that day. Every street you looked down in some areas had trees and branches everywhere!! Were you living there at that time Monique?

That's funny! No I wasn't living here then...I was actually CAMPING IN A TENT here that night. We were on holidays staying in Point Farms. It was an amazing storm as the light show went on for HOURS as it rolled across the lake before the storm actually hit land. We really enjoyed sitting around the campfire and watching the sky light up constantly.

When it actually hit land, we had to get the kids out of the tent and wait it out in the van. It was quite freaky as we weren't sure where to park. Out in the open the wind was relentless but within the wooded areas there was fear of a tree coming down on the car. We actually drove down to the beach at one point before realizing it probably wasn't the best idea and retreating fast.

Sitting around, watching that storm come in was one of the things that made us decide to move here. Everything here is beauty magnified, whether it is a sunny day on the beach or an amazing storm rolling across the lake. It's also a throwback to the 50's in terms of community. When the summer months are over and the tourists go home this town becomes intimate, yet still has all the amenities us city dwellers have come to expect...Canadian Tire, Walmart, McDonald's. LOL

I remember what Goderich looked like in the fifties (yes, I'm that old!) and although much of it is the same the beach area has changed a lot. We used to have to walk across train tracks where the new booth and change rooms are on the main beach. My parents and grandparents went to that beach and now I am taking my grandchildren there. And we never get tired of watching the sunsets or the storms coming in across the water. We are so lucky to live only an hour's drive from Lake Huron!

I gave up a six figure career in the executive ranks at Canada's largest retailer to live on this lake. It is an amazing and magical place and I honestly believe it is the best move I could have made for my children.
