From Canada. I'm bidding on a boxed N64 game from the US. Probably around 60$ CAN with shipping. How much will I have to pay for Import Charges, if any?

Online calculator said around 60$. Is this serious?

First look for this:

Customs services and international tracking provided

That is notice that the seller is using the Global Shipping Program.

Before the seller ships, you will have to pay (in addition to the usual selling price and shipping) import fees as applicable. These are made up of Canadian duty, Canadian sales taxes and a $5 or so service charge to Pitney Bowes which operates the program for eBay.

If that does not appear (if you are looking on a laptop or desktop-- this doesn't work on a mobile) then you duty and sales taxes are applicable. In addition Canada Post has a service fee of $9.95 for brokering the item through Customs.

However.

Canada Border Services Agency seems to have decided that if the item is not too bulky and is under about $100, it would cost more to collect the border fees than to ignore them.

Which is common sense from public servants, eh?

So basically, you could be charged, but you are unlikely to be charged.

Do you feel lucky?

And, if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order.-  Zoe Washburne

The import charges, if any, are only on the selling price. Not the shipping cost.
