Japan address ?

Customer from Japan purchased an item the other day. When I went to Paypal to print the "ship to address" it was a combination of English & Japanese. Went ahead and printed it and Paypal only recognized the English portion and not the Japanese portion.There's no way it will get there like that.

Have e-mailed the customer with that information and for clarification...no response yet?

This is what Paypal recognized as an address : name 804 Chiba Japan  nothing else but a bunch of little squares which I assume is the unrecognized Japanese

Most likely this is not a PayPal issue but a computer issue with fonts available on your computer or in your browser setting the default font is set to a western font with no Japanese or Chinese character support.

Perhaps try another browser to reprint the label??

I tried to find a solution using google search but only find hints of the issue but no answer.

If you can see the Japanese letters/characters why not just write them on the label?

Or, perhaps easier still, take a screen shot and enlarge it enough to print out for your parcel, or drop into a Word document with the rest of the English address. 

I don't speak or write Japanese, and I'm not sure I'd trust myself to accurately transcribe Japanese text.

Poco could be correct as I'm sure that in the past I've printed labels with addresses in a foreign alphabet.

Japanese is a pretty simple set of letters.

日本人は文字の非常に単純なセットです。

I wouldn't try it with Arabic!

One of the workarounds was to do a screenshot and print that and have that on the package in addition to the PayPal label.

Another was to contact the buyer and get the English equivalent of the address to add to the label.

I would do as poco and others suggested, set your browser so that it displays the Japanese text properly (not the squares), take a screen cap and print that and tape that on the envelope, and then write JAPAN underneath so that Canada Post knows that it's to be sent to Japan and when it gets there Japan Post knows how to mail it lol.

If you would like, once you got the screen cap figured out you can PM me the screen cap and I can tell you and Google the address to see if it looks legit?

If I read the OP first post in this topic, the address appears correctly on the screen in PayPal but does not print correctly.

I am not sure why this would happen to display properly and not print properly.

Edit after posting. If I understand how the PayPal labels work, the label is in PDF format so perhaps it is Adobe PDF reader or its equivalent that does not have the Japanese font available. This would explain the browser displaying it and the printing not able to display/print it.
