New mandatory item conditions

Lovely!
I pity you guys and gals with 1,000's of listings.

I already specify item condition. Do I need to update my listings?
Because the old and new definitions are not comparable, you will need to update all of your listings to include one of the new values before item condition becomes mandatory on July 27.

Item condition is bulk editable on .COM, so it's just matter of time when it comes to .CA

LOL I've been trying to put item condition in and it doesn't work in all categories. Stupid system!! I have a Barbie doll that I want desperately to show as being new. I have to make an item specific to say new but it doesn't show up at the top of the listing near the bid box. It shows "--". I do hope they fix it because it's really annoying.

I've been trying to add item specifics for my craft patterns and it just won't do it. Very frustrating!

Even though ebay won't admit it, I think you can blame Google for that one.

Google requires Item condition on anything listed in Google Product search - ebay has to comply.

A question regarding this I have is that I sell remanufactured toner cartridges on Ebay. It's hard to decide what category to put them under since there are only "New" and "used" categories.

Do I list mine as new or used? if I list them as new, I might get complaints that I misrepresented my cartridges by those who think "New" means brand new OEM cartridges. If I list them as used, I may lose sales because buyers may be under the impression I am selling empty cartridges.

It's kind of a catch-22 for those in my boat, even though all my listings clearly say "remanufactured".

ebay did say that the item specifics would be different for each category - perhaps they'll have a "remanufactured" specific for toner cartridges, since there are so many of them on here.

I use TL. I've had a lot of problems CHANGING or ADDING to item specifics on listings. They only way I can do it is to clear all fields, save the listing, go back into the listing and resubmit the data.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Crafty. I use Blackthorne and the process is super easy enough. It's just that eBay isn't accepting the item specifics.

On the BT Pro list there's a question that I've also responded to asking about when are they going to get the item specifics working 100% of the time!

It's hit and/or miss right now, but I'm sure that the developers are going to do something about it since now it will be mandatory.

Fingers and toes crossed because I'm not changing them one at a time if need be!
