Oh, what an idiot I am ....


My luck finally ran out yesterday (trick or treat?) and I got my first neg feedback. Same old story, a new user who decided she did not want the book she'd bid on and won.
This lady picked another book out of my store stock and decided I should do an exchange for her. Normally, I'm fairly flexible with this kind of thing - but this time the book she had selected a) was twice the price of the book she'd won, and b) had already sold several days previously to another buyer. Hmmm.
To cut a long story short, she refused to pay and I filed and received FVFC. I eventually had to block her emails as she became increasingly rude and weird. This delightful individual then waited 2 months to leave me a little surprise neg. I had not left her any feedback up until this point.

Now for the really stupid part.
I started composing a neg FB, but kept running out of room to say what I wanted to. I remember seeing a reference on the .com PS board to a link that allows you to leave longer feedback - almost twice as many characters. This link is from an asian ebay site - here it is, if anyone is interested:

So I compose my feedback, go to preview it - and suddenly I find I've left POSITIVE feedback!!!

AAARRGGHH!!

If anyone knows of anything I can do at this stage, please let me know. Can I cancel Pos FB? I'm more steamed about my own stupidity than I am about the negative.

Sorry but FB left is FB left and that is the end of the story unless you had managed to leave the neg and go for mutual removal.

There's the feedback removal policy. I got there from the "contact customer support" page, where it offered info on what to do if you left the wrong kind of feedback - pos, neutral, or neg. But on the feedback removal policy, it doesn't mention what to do with incorrectly left positive feedback. Still, I'd file a report on the feedback and say that it was left in error and you'd like it removed. Good luck.

Wow that sucks. I saw the same post you did . HK or Korea ebay? I bookmarked it and planned to use it. Question for you , was this just an oversite or was the "positive " "negative "neutral" written in chinese aned reversed or something?

I honestly did not think I'd selected pos or neg - I suspect it may have defaulted to pos instead of 'leave later'.. Or maybe not. Everything shows as ??? question marks so I may have hit the wrong button by mistake.

I've done the same thing trying to neg a NPB. Left a positive instead (oops). It happens. You have fantastic feedback otherwise so I'm sure that negative will be ignored. I'm sure everyone who has been on eBay for long enough knows that there are idiots out there...I don't take negative feedback too seriously unless it's left for something out of my control (like happened recently). You neg them back and mutually withdraw. The story is in my feedback profile so I'd rather not repeat it. 🙂
