Pitney Bowes?

So I ordered an item from a Canadian seller, shipping within Canada and I thought everything was normal until I received this message;

"You are receiving this email at the request of PITNEY BOWES ATLANTA GA EBAY to provide you with updates on the progress of this shipment."

I didn't do any business with Pitney Bowes, nor would I ever do any business with sellers who use them. When I bought the item there was no indication anywhere that Pitney Bowes would be used, it shouldn't even be an option within Canada to use this method (it's supposed to be exclusive to the US).

Anyone know what this is all about?

Canada Post and Paypal use Pitney Bowes to handle some details of the online shipping labels.

It is confusing.

Deeprak Chopra, President of Canada Post, came from PB and there is a relationship between the two businesses.  Just as there is a relationship with DHL and with Purolator couriers.

If Canada Post shipping was bought through paypal the details were processed by Pitney Bowes.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the eBay.com Global Shipping Program, which is handled by different arm of Pitney Bowes..

Pitney Bowes is a very large American based company consolidating shipments from one country to another.  eBay is one of thousands of businesses they work with.

Pitney Bowes is also the largest provider of postage meter machine worldwide.  They are a public company with shares listed on the NYSE.
