Question about seller protection - Users with 0 feedback

I've recently listed a high priced item on eBay which has attracted a bid from a user with 0 feedback. (Their account was created approximately three and a half years ago) We all do need to start somewhere, but admittedly I'm a bit weary of a blank account.

If this user does win the auction and pays, I'm curious if there are any red flags I should watch for, or steps I can take to help protect myself if something does go wrong? (Past having a tracking number and retaining all information about the transaction)

I'm fairly new to selling, so any tips would be useful. Thanks!

Where is the bidder from?

If the item + shipping total is more than $250 U.S. you need to have signature confirmation in order to win a item not received claim. That service isn't available for all countries.

According to Paypal...that rule is for $250 U.S. and $325 Canadian but I have always gone by the U.S. $ amount just to be safe.

The bidder lists their location as within the US which should make things such as tracking simpler. Good to know about the signature confirmation option as well, it sounds like something good to have even if the item does not meet the $250 mark. Thank you for the reply!
