Resolution centre issues

This could be me not being used to the common pitfalls of online shopping, but I purchased an item from an international seller on the other side of the globe.

The shipping time was expected 6-8 weeks, fine I don't need it for a while anyway.  After a few weeks, I contacted the seller about it not arriving, and the response was "we'll re-send".  Great!

Another few weeks go by and it still hasn't arrived, I contacted them again, no response.

I try to open a dispute, but then I find out the item had to be sold within the past 45 days for me to lodge a complaint, or leave feedback, even though I had not yet.

Does anyone else think 45 days is too short a cutoff?

No to your question.  If you paid for surface mail as opposed to airmail...shame on you.  Get a book, wait and relax.

No, I don't think that it is too short a time. Most items arrive well before then.

It's not a good idea to agree to reshipping the item though. It seems that often the second item doesn't arrive either...which makes me think that there was never an item shipped.

In the future, you can file a claim before the 45 days and receive a refund. If the item is received after that, you can pay the seller again.

Sorry, but what a thing to say...this isn't the buyers fault. I suspect that nothing was shipped and nothing will ever be received.

Since 6-8 weeks is longer than the 45 days, then ebay should have the complaint date extended. It should match the expected arrival date plus 1 week.

If the seller advertises to not expect the product until after 45 days, then in the future I will lodge a complaint on every item as I have been ripped of by two different sellers last fall.

Both said they would re send.

First time I had ever had an issue.

I didn't realize there was a cutoff date to complain.

I assume when a seller makes this offer, that he is a scammer and nothing was ever sent. and nothing ever will be.

My last two overseas purchases both were overdue and contacting the seller brought that response.

For the first, I got a refund through Paypal within hours of filing my Not Recieved claim. Over two months later nothing has arrived.

For the second, I have closed the INR, and again nothing has arrived, but it has only been days. I'm not counting on it, and I have my money back.

Learned a new word today: 'anecdata'.
