I made the same concern yesterday.
I am not just a seller but a buyer too. So this will impact me when purchasing products in US funds. My husband buys a lot of electronic parts on eBay & other sites & likes having US funds in our PayPal account.

" If I have to buy USD at 30% exchange"
Do you always leave all the proceeds of your US$ sales in your US$ PayPal balance or do you withdraw money to your Canadian bank account from time to time (getting the benefit of the conversion)?
When purchasing on eBay in US$, if you have a PayPal balance in Cdn$, it is simply a matter of converting one currency for another.
The real value of the transaction does not change.
Based on current exchange rate, a US$100 is worth Cdn$130 - it really does not matter what currency you use, does it?

I guess the vast majority of Canadian sellers withdraw money from their PayPal account from time to time.

Majority of my sales are in CAD because it's easier for me to do "free" shipping by putting a price that's inclusive of all costs, and essentially "how much do I want for this in CAD". For my CAD sales I withdraw to my bank. I used to list in USD too a few years ago but changed back to CAD when the CAD was high, and just didn't bother doing the move again when the CAD dropped as I have more listings and work/school take up more time.
I have some listings on .COM in USD as well just to utilize the free listing quotas there, and for those USD sales I keep them in my paypal account for shopping in USD (here or on other websites).

i actually changed all my listings to CDN last August when ebay initially told us it would be 'better'.
hesitant at first, September was really slow, so made the changes during the down time, i changed every single listing to CDN dollar.
i had alot of questions from US buyers - 'it says $10 US, why are you charging me $13"
and i had to explain over and over again that it converting to CDN dollars and it really is $10 US
(this is just random numbers for example purposes)
i also starting realizing that i was underpricing BUT had the best sales in ebay in 4 years during the months of October & November 2015. i ended up increasing prices by Dec.
I still find my prices are very low in CDN, but the benefit is I now have more Canadian buyers, were as before the change it was mainly all US buyers.
i still get questions about the price/exchange rate from US buyers, but not as many as last year.I know there are some who didnt buy because of it being Canadian dollars.
I have to say that I am losing money since i buy all my supplies (i make handmade jewelry) in USD$. I havent figured out the right price in CDN, especially since this year started off with the Canadian dollar at 0.70 cents - now i think its up to 0.79 cents.
i ended up opening a second shop with different items all in USD, but they all want their orders in a week lol, some think im in the US since the shipping options are different than the Canadian site.
its all a trial error right now.

For shipping to the U.S. on the U.S. site are you using the option 'shipping from outside of the U.S.'?
You have some great items on this id..I'll have to bookmark it.
