Seller canceled order.

I made a purchase and paid by PayPal.  A couple hours later I received an email saying the seller had canceled my order and refunded the money.  No good reason was given.  I am pretty sure if I tried to cancel the deal there would be serious repercussions.  As it is I can't even leave feedback.  Is this really how it works?

I'm sorry to hear that this transaction didn't work the way it was supposed to. You certainly can leave feedback for the item and seller if you paid for it plus you don't have to accept the cancellation request they'll be sending you through ebay in order to recover their assessed selling fees. Without naming the seller (as it is prohibited) can you describe the product and/or reason given for the failure to follow-through with the sale?

There does not seem to be an option for leaving feedback for this item in my Purchase History. There was no cancellation request received. The item was a computer graphics card. I received a message from eBay saying the following:

We're sorry to let you know that ********* cancelled your order and mentioned the reason as I'm out of stock or can't fulfill the order for another reason. The seller refunded US $***** back to your PayPal account, and you don't need to do anything else.

I also received an email from PayPal saying the money was refunded. It is not worth wasting time on this, I just didn't think it was right.  I have a hunch he just didn't get enough for it because the price was pretty low.

Re: I'm sorry to hear that this transaction didn't work the w...

I just won an auction at the low listing ad price. The seller emailed me and stated he couldn't sell it for this price. I emailed back stating it was a binding contract and that with the large shipping price it would not be an outlandish bad deal and to deal with it. Later, I got a "seller cancelled" from Ebay. The seller emailed me again, and said he didn't sell it under the right auction. I still don't like his weak excuse and would like to see if I can further. I don't see a way I can, yet. Can I open up a case? I don't even see a way to give a feedback as they took that off after 'the purchase'. I never paid any money for it, as I wanted the correct 'umpiring' to take place. So far I'm not quite happy with the umpiring. Is there some rules that ebay and seller must follow in a 'binding contract'? All my sellers whether they made a bad deal or not gladly came through and delivered the item. Likewise I have made bad choices by not reading the ads correctly or finding a better deal right away, but I have always just ponied up and paid.

just won an auction at the low listing ad price.

The seller emailed me and stated he couldn't sell it for this price.

I emailed back stating it was a binding contract and that with the large shipping price it would not be an outlandish bad deal and to deal with it.

Later, I got a "seller cancelled" from Ebay.

EBay recently added an option that allows both buyers and sellers to cancel transactions without consulting the other within an hour or so of the order.

About half those involved in such cancellations are really annoyed.

NO.

There is no transaction and eBay allows these fast cancellations by either buyer or seller for a very short period of time.

I don't even see a way to give a feedback as they took that off after 'the purchase'.

No purchase took place, therefore no feedback.

I never paid any money for it, as I wanted the correct 'umpiring' to take place.

So you are only out some of your time.

You missed out on an underpriced item. EBay gave the seller (or you if you wanted to change your mind) a short time to refuse the transaction. The seller took the opportunity to cancel rather than to lose money.

BTW. The shipping cost does not go to the seller but to his shipper (with GSP that includes the Canadian government and Pitney Bowes as the importer of record.)
