I SEE SELLERS ON EBAY WITH 72 NEGATIVES AND 112 NEUTRALS IN 12 MONTHS STILL FLAUNTING THE TOP SELLER ICON.
MAKES ONE WONDER IN MANY WAYS.
IN MY OPINION TOP SELLER RATINGS ARE WORTHLESS,SEE SELLERS SCORES INSTEAD.

The actual number of negatives and neutrals doesn't really mean anything unless you also look at the total number of ratings that have been given. A large seller may have more than the usual number of negs and neutrals but that might work out to just a very small percentage of their total ratings.

One neg out of 804 is pretty good.
One neg out of 8040 is unimportant (except to the unhappy buyer.)
One neg out of 8 is cause for NARU.

As a seller, I am unhappy when I get even one negative. I know it means little in the grand scheme of things, but it drives me CRAZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Usually, when I get a negative, I didn't do anything to deserve it.

It is absolutely NOT accepable to go by averages.
Some sellers with these large numbers of unhappy buyers create a bad eBay environment.

Sounds like you are upset because you don't have Top Seller status.
Increasing your prices to include postage costs and offering 'Free Shipping' on your items may help get you there - looks like shipping cost is where your buyers are rating you poorly.

Another suggestion, if you are not already doing so, use older postage stamps on your mailings. This will be popular with any buyer, but especially with your stamp collectors.
Most stamp dealers have discount mint postage for sale, with prices from "no HST" down to 40% off depending on how much they buy.
And yes, to some extent these big box sellers with many negs and neuts do discourage buyers, but there is a certain amount of "stovepipe" buying here.
If a big box is selling cheap Chinese batteries, his unhappy customers are not particularly likely to also be in the eBay market for high end jewellry, vintage science fiction or foreign FDCs.

I Personally feel that big Sellers with lots of Negs is good for me and I should thank them for their old customers : )
