Two More Reasons Not to Love the GSP

Long Post............ Long Day!

I just received another GSP item, and like my other item when I received the package I first thought it was a return.
That's because the return address for both is "Shipping Manager Returns Department."

Several posters have stated concerns about whether P-B is remitting these taxes to our Canadian Government and to me that's always seemed very far fetched…… in fact it still seems that way...........

However, I have to wonder why these packages are coming from the P-B returns office.

If they are crossing the boarder as returns then there would be no taxes owing, but clearly taxes are being collected, but perhaps there's a reasonable explanation for that which I can't think of.

Food for thought!

IN ADDITION:

P-B has claimed that they are not opening these packages and that is a blatant lie.

My package was opened.

This beautiful item was thrown into the bottom of a box with no protection……….  a very delicate item tossed loose into the bottom of the box and sliding around on cardboard ……. with bubble wrap jammed on top of it.
No respect or care for the piece whatsoever.  It was treated like garbage by the re-packers.

I emailed the seller and the seller sent me the following message:

"" I am glad you like your item, but I am
mortified that the packing arrived like
that. I assure you there was popcorn in
the bottom of the box and your item
was wrapped in bubble wrap and inside
a zip lock bag with a thank you note
and then more pop corn on top . I have also filled
a complaint about why this was opened
and by who .""""

There is no doubt that it was opened.  There was no note, popcorn, or zip-lock bag.
I didn't even have to open the box to see that it had been opened because the way the box was taped.  Just like my other GSP item. No seller tapes like that.

The seller paid almost $12 to ship this small light box to P-B, and the box I received would have cost much less to ship within the States.
That makes me think that the box the seller shipped was much bigger and heavier than the box I received.
It looks P-B repackaged my item into a smaller box and removed most of the packaging to save money on shipping…………… which I paid.

I can think of no other reason to re-package my item

Just two more reasons to view the GSP in a Negative Light................. What's Not to Love???  A LOT!!!!

This is a very disturbing report.

I hope you will be able to bring it to the attention of eBay on the Wednesday Board.

I don't really believe there's anything Canadian VIPs can do about the GSP.

Any thoughts on why the return addresses would be the Returns Department?

Maybe the reason P-Bs address is Returns Department is in case someone wants to return the item?

The way it's laid out makes it look like they're shipping FROM the returns department.

I've never seen that before........... but then I didn't believe that they were re-packing items until I experienced it first hand either.

Customs opens packages, especially the ones that they think are from ebay.

That's because so many sellers haven't been declaring the proper value.

Customs opens a few packages.  Over the years I've had several opened but the last was a few years ago.

EXTREMELY RARE for them to do that and even wonkier to suggest that they can id eBay parcels.

Moreover, customs ALWAYS re-packs with a  bright yellow tape ............ I think it says "Opened by Customs" or something like that.

There is no mystery when they open a package.

They want you to know they were there.

No room for doubt who it was.

My first P-B package was opened and re-packed in a very sloppy manner.  I wasn't sure with that one but suspicious.

This second package was opened and the item was taken out of the zip lock bag, the seller's note to me was removed, and the popcorn was also removed from the package.

I am almost positive they used a new box as well, but I haven't asked the seller about that yet.

There is absolutely no confusing the two.  Zero possibility of that.

When customs opens a package they let you know it was them.

A return address is the address to be used when an item is, for whatever reason, undeliverable and has to be returned.  Obviously, a "returns department" would deal with returned items.

Not being able to see the label in question, I don't know if it could really be mistaken for a shipping address.  And I'm not sure why this is all that important anyway.

Just out of curiosity, is the location of the Returns Department someplace other than Erlanger, KY 41018?

Have to agree here.  An item opened by customs will have tape or documentation indicating that.

Also, I'm under the impression that these are pre-cleared in the US and then driven over the border.    I don't think customs even handles them as they've already been cleared.

My packages were opened by P-B and the paperwork was removed.

I've always thought it odd that P-B doesn't include their own paperwork in a plastic pouch on the outside of the parcel.  They've just billed for handling fees, shipping costs, and taxes and the buyer should see that breakdown on paper.

A company the size of P-B should have exhaustive paperwork and I've never before experienced a situation where the buyer doesn't get a hard copy of the receipt.

Have you?

Now I know for certain that they are even removing the seller's paperwork from inside the parcel.

Maybe that's a second reason they're opening the packages.

They have to have a reason (or reasons) for it.

Man, does that ever look bad

I'll take a picture of the shipping label and post it but shipping from the returns department is very odd.
