Welcome to DRK RADIO

In 1999 I with others set up pirate radio station called DRK RADIO.

It was great fun and lasted for about one year.

There was some great djs playing blues to rock pop and a bit of everything.

The djs names were in code so the powers that be did not know who we were.

There was the silver fox

The hairy man

Dj hacker

Billy the kid

Togge

Chris Carroll

And many more.

What I would like to do now is start it again on this board.

You be the dj and find the music video you want to play on YouTube and post a link on here.

You can also post a video of you talking about the song you picked if you like.

And the next posted do the same.

I will get the ball rolling

This was the very first song played at live aid.

Not a great song, but we have to start with something.

Can you do better, please join in.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

Abba…..the wife really likes them….even now.

Sonny Boy Williamson………classic!!! The harmonica is about the only instrument I ever really tired, next to the drums but……I still couldn’t master it enough.

Robert Johnson….fantastic. Funny story….I had some friends digging out the basement of a house they were renovating. Hard dirty work, one shovel at a time. So I went home, grabbed a Johnson CD and my player and brought it back. I got them singing his tunes as they worked. A little music and the work is easier and faster. I wish I had taped it.

Peter Green, how did I miss him? Green looks and plays like a friend I had years ago. He had learned to play guitar in prison. First time I seen him was at a party and people told me to stay away from him because he was dangerous. That just made me want to know this guy. We became the best of friends and man could he play guitar and the blues!!! We lost touch when he moved out west. I heard later that he got in a fight with his brother-in-law and was stabbed in the back….and died.

Eric Johnson, must have had some classical training, although his bio doesn’t mention any. He’s very precise.

Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan….I done died and gone to the great Blues Bar in the sky!

‘That’s alright ma’….Easy Rider…..CLASSIC!! Took a girl named Patricia to the movie at the Victoria Cinema on Clarence St in London (it’s a parking lot now) The place was a fire trap with a small wooden staircase that creaked and only room for two people to go up it to the balcony. Sitting in the balcony if you felt something run over your feet….it was a rat. The movie really influenced me at the time….probably still does. A friend of mine and I were going to quit our jobs and ride across Canada to BC…down the west coast of the US to Mexico, over to New Orleans and back up to Canada. We had everything planned out. A few days before we left I went over to his apartment and when his girlfriend opened the door she was crying. I remember looking down and seeing his boots in the hall. They were cut down the sides and red with dried blood. He had crashed his m/c the night before and was really banged up. He lived, but the trip got put off and put off and put off….eventually forever. One of those left turns in life and you wonder what could have been.

Santana ….. Michael Shrieve on drums….. man what a tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That clip was cut…….. here’s the full drum solo from Woodstock…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0mDM0A70Fc

Joe Cocker, a name that speaks for itself! …….such an unique performer. My favourite tune and performance ……. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AptOFoBuagM

All your other tunes……….taking me back…taking me back.

You can get anything you want………… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn4Fu8UMgho
