Welcome to DRK RADIO

In 1999 I with others set up pirate radio station called DRK RADIO.

It was great fun and lasted for about one year.

There was some great djs playing blues to rock pop and a bit of everything.

The djs names were in code so the powers that be did not know who we were.

There was the silver fox

The hairy man

Dj hacker

Billy the kid

Togge

Chris Carroll

And many more.

What I would like to do now is start it again on this board.

You be the dj and find the music video you want to play on YouTube and post a link on here.

You can also post a video of you talking about the song you picked if you like.

And the next posted do the same.

I will get the ball rolling

This was the very first song played at live aid.

Not a great song, but we have to start with something.

Can you do better, please join in.

Re: Welcome to DRK RADIO

AC/DC video……

Gotta enjoy the look on the kids face at 1:16. You could almost read his mind….”can I have one of those when I grow up”

Rats Hole Vid:

Haven’t been to Sturgis for several years. The m/c’s look good but……the hard tail frames on many of them, the monkey bars, the raked front end with risers makes them all rough to ride.

The Game of Love - Wayne Fontana

That one rattled my memory files!

Fontana has turned out to be an interesting guy…..

In 2005 he fought off bankruptcy but was arrested after police were called by bailiffs who went to his home in Glossop, Derbyshire. He poured petrol on the bonnet of a car and set it alight with a bailiff inside. Fontana was remanded in custody on 25 May 2007 in regard to the charge. He appeared at Derby Crown Court dressed as the lady of justice, with a sword, scales, crown, cape and dark glasses, claiming "justice is blind". He dismissed his lawyers. On 10 November 2007 he was sentenced to 11 months for setting fire to the car but was released because he had already served the equivalent of the term, held under the Mental Health Act 1983. After his release he settled in Spain.

The Carnival is Over. I’m stumped on that one. Can’t remember it at all.

Streets of London…..I’m blank on that one too!

Croce was a class act. GREAT music from that man. Died wayyyy too soon.

James Taylor another Great musician. Suffered from depression for a long time. He’s still around and still performing for special events but frankly…..I would listen to him and many others before the music that is on the charts these days. His music had heart.

Ladies and Cool Bikes………..replayed it 10 times…..what bikes??

Buddha Bar ….. Always liked that music.

Armin van Buuren….more DJ music but not bad at all.

One of my favourite female composers…. HIldegard von Bingen ( Circa 1098 – 1178 AD) Her melody of Kyrie Eleison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T73d-n3oII

A later version (Circa Easy Rider)…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NXdA1h0ztM

These are my memories  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDWQ8w829tY

In a way I can identify with this tune. I had the pleasure of meeting DC and having a few drinks with him……seems like a century ago. Great guy….blunt…..down to earth and we had a lot of history in common.

Somehow this tune seems appropriate today. I even have it tattooed on my arm….Paybacks are a _________!
