Garage sale is what I use. I wish I had not chosen it.
- If you look at the HTML code it generates, it is the worst code I have ever seen in my life. For a ten-line listing, it will generate literally hundreds of lines of code. You cannot see the text if you want to tweak the html, it is just miles of redundant tags.
- There are dozens of internal bugs that do not get worked out in updates.
- The customer support is very sketchy as well: they have actually told me to type slower if a certain part of the software is not working right.
- They issue frequent paid upgrades that are necessary to take advantage of eBay changes.
Not really a rant, just my own experience... If I did it again I would have just bought a PC for my selling. |
I also use GarageSale, and have been happy with it overall. There are definitely bugs, and they are slow to address them, but considering it is specialized software, I sort of expect that.
The lack of communication actually comes from a language barrier I think. I met these guys at MacWorld in 2008, and their grasp of english was not a strength.
To me, it's strength is in the Listing Designs. The stock designs are exceptional, and it comes with a great selection. I think you'd be hard pressed to find software that has nicer looking Stock Listing Designs.
Things I don't like about it are all related to dealing with the transactions through the sale process, for which I now do much of it from Seller Manger Pro. It was fine when I was selling 10 or so items a day, but not now when we are dealing with 50 or more a day.
Unfortunately, if you are a Mac user, your choices are limited.
