Date: Monday, August 29
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 PM ET
Where: Right here on Canada Town Square!
Host: Harry Rinker, HGTV’s Collector Inspector and author of How to Think Like a Collector will be available to answer your questions. Harry can demystify the often emotional, competitive and confusing world of collecting and wants to teach Canadians how to think like a bona fide collector.
Here are some of the topics Harry will be covering:
What’s it worth? – Appraisals of your collections
Is it antique, collectable or junk? How to judge an item's value while learning to get the best price when selling
The collecting personality – What your collection says about you.
“Collectiquette” – The etiquette and protocol of collectors
Rinker’s Rule of Ten - How many is too many?
Hope you can join us!

I write a weekly column called "Rinker on Collectibles," that appears in a number of trade papers in the US. Every other week, I write a text (think piece) column. You'll find some of the columns on my website.
My new book, HOW TO THINK LIKE A COLLECTOR, contains over 70 of my columns.
I'm just finishing my eighteenth year.

It's fun to be in Canada. While there are a lot of similarities between what is and is not collected in the two countries, there also are key differences.
English late nineteenth and early twentieth century ceramics sell much better in Canada. Obviously, so do British Royalty commemortives.
Think Canadian collector know far more about the American stuff than American collectors know about the Canadian stuff.

just wanted to drop in and say hello
I have been a Nostalgia dealer for close to 21 years specializing in Old Post Cards Toys and Advertising. I am a Collector of Post Cards and A Certain local tea company
One of the best things I ever did was pick up an old Post Card. It got me started and I have enjoyed every minute of this buisness since.
Welllll there have been some instances where I wanted to tear my hair out but those are few and far between

People always say the eBay has a negative effect on market prices. You'd never know it when you look at what postcards bring.
I think eBay brought life back into the postcard market.

I tell them that is the wrong question.
The right question is what don't I collect?
I only collect. I do not sell. I have over 50,000 objects in my collection. I collection in over 250 major categories. Never enough as far as I'm concerned.
