I am bidding on an ipad. If I win the bid will I have to pay extra because it is coming from the US into Canada?

It depends.
On how it is sent, is the seller using GSP, etc.
If it is over $20 the answer is "Yes you will in theory, in practice quite possibly not."
Questions with no specifics get vague unhelpful answers.

if all I can get is vague unhelpful answers as you say...then why bother commenting at all?

"will I have to pay extra because it is coming from the US into Canada?"
The official answer from the government of Canada is:

"I am bidding on an ipad. If I win the bid will I have to pay extra because it is coming from the US into Canada?"
its very simple, if there's any mention of "Import Charge" in the listing and the price is above a certain level, the answer is yes. if there's no mention, Canada custom may stop the package and place a duty on it.
Read the listing carefully before you bid or buy.

I believe iPads are made in China.
I believe iPads cost more than $20.
Expect to pay duty on it, because it is the place of manufacture, and not the place of purchase that determines whether duty is charged. pierre gave you the link to find out what that duty will be.
Expect to pay federal and provincial sales taxes on the item. This varies from 5% to 15% depending on your province.
Expect to pay between $4.95 and $25 or more for customs brokerage/service fees, depending on the carrier your seller uses.
Or just double the amount you bid plus the shipping he gives you and that will be pretty close. That's what we used to do pre-GST and NAFTA and it worked okay.
