eBay Against Counterfeits? It's a joke.

There are many faked Linksys voip product selling from China/Hong Kong. Ebay do nothing on it. Now LV sued ebay and the court order Ebay to pay the penalty. Now ebay start to cry and claim "eBay Against Counterfeits". Ebay deserve it ...

eBay Against Counterfeits ?

Sorry -- but this is just more bad news for us. It is NOT GOOD that eBay is being attacked in this manner -- it merely gives them a very business-related reason to start 'policing' even more and removing our independance.

I think it sucks that these groups from France are attacking websites for the sale of counterfeit items. They can't go and sue the people on New York city streets who sell them, so they go after the 'easy' targets.

These groups are just trying to control their own marketplace and eBay/Google are the unfortunate losers in this. 😞

I sell patterns which can easily be photocopied. A couple of years ago copies were rampant but a lot of the copyright infringers were forced out thanks to a group tenacious powersellers who reported them as soon as they saw them. I must say though that it would take several courses of reporting the listings before eBay would pull them and today that still holds true. I do think they need to do more to remove counterfeit product.

eBay Against Counterfeits ?

eBay and Paypal are well aware that a very high percentage of serveral classes of items are counterfiet. Expect to see more class actions in the future. As it turns out, manufacturers see no benefit in launching eBay crusades, it is far more beneficially to the manufacturer if buyers get stuck with counterfiet goods with no recourse to recover the funds paid.

eBay is a self policing society, but it's more like musical chairs and if the seller has made off with the money, Paypal won't do squat for the majority of buyers that got sucked in because once someone intiates a dispute, it's like a run on a bank and the people at the back of the line are screwed despite claims by Paypal that they protect buyers against these fraudulent scenarios.

One of these legal cases needs to slap eBay and Paypal on their heads with a sledge hammer by assigning punitive damages of 500 million.... but they still won't get it, they'll just whine and cry like the scam artists they knowingly allowed to sell fakes, because they do a high volume and only a small percentage actually get the whistle blown on them. eBay/Paypal are more than happy to do busniss with criminals because the profits are plentiful.
