eBay and Paypal are well aware that a very high percentage of serveral classes of items are counterfiet. Expect to see more class actions in the future. As it turns out, manufacturers see no benefit in launching eBay crusades, it is far more beneficially to the manufacturer if buyers get stuck with counterfiet goods with no recourse to recover the funds paid.
eBay is a self policing society, but it's more like musical chairs and if the seller has made off with the money, Paypal won't do squat for the majority of buyers that got sucked in because once someone intiates a dispute, it's like a run on a bank and the people at the back of the line are screwed despite claims by Paypal that they protect buyers against these fraudulent scenarios.
One of these legal cases needs to slap eBay and Paypal on their heads with a sledge hammer by assigning punitive damages of 500 million.... but they still won't get it, they'll just whine and cry like the scam artists they knowingly allowed to sell fakes, because they do a high volume and only a small percentage actually get the whistle blown on them. eBay/Paypal are more than happy to do busniss with criminals because the profits are plentiful.
