If you're an eBay seller wondering why you're suddenly receiving an increase in the number of e-check funded payments via PayPal, it appears that PayPal is experiencing a glitch that started last month. The eBay boards are full of frustrated buyers and sellers, and it's not just an issue of inconvenience.
Buyers who think they are paying with their credit card on file get several nasty surprises - PayPal withdraws the funds from their bank account instead of pinging their credit card, and paying with eChecks slows down delivery time.
PayPal explains, "an eCheck is a payment that you make directly from your bank account. Just like a ...

Cappnonymous reported the problem on April 2nd.

Also I do not have a credit card linked to my paypal account And paypal is giving me the instant payment option for my transactions,,,,,,they pay, I reimburse when the transaction clears.
As opposed to an e-cheque and the wait time. I do alot of transactions and have never had a bounced payment so they may have upgraded me ??? but the paypal website clearly states you need to have a credit card linked to the account to do instant payment from your bank account.

there is a small link that says change so you can change from bank account to credit card choice. Paypal's default if no funds is echeck and buyers have to be careful to change it. I have never had a problem with it.

I came onto the boards looking for echeck issues...thanks Pierre.
We've been getting hit big time on our shipping stars which took us out of the top rated status. After talking with a few buyers it turns out that they were under the impression that they had made an instant payment with their cc when in actuality they had paid with echeck. As far as they were concerned we shipped 4 or 5 days after they paid. It's costing us 20% more in fees and a drop in search. When paypal messes like this it makes me distrust them for my own purchases....plus the fact that I'm not too interested in supporting them when they are affecting my sales. I'll be cutting back on paypal for a while.

I fixed that problem on my side, all e checks are refunded. Angus Coin Shop as policies and that is one of them.
I phoned paypal to tell them of our policy, they don't like it but there's no choice in the matter.
There hasn't been anymore of them.

Since you accept Paypal you take echecks.
If you refund and say you do not accept echecks the buyer can (and should) give you a negative feedback

You should really read your user agreement with ebay and paypal.
You can use whatever weasel words you want but ebay and paypal policy always trump your opinion.
