i just purchased an item for $10 and are being charged an import fee - i live in Canada - just wondering why this is showing up after being a loyal ebay buyer for years?

It is part of the new global shipping program that they have for U.S. sellers. Not all sellers use it though. If you shop on ebay.com rather than .ca it is more obvious on the listing when a seller is using gsp and it also gives a total for the import fees before you buy.

 Buyers should let ebay know how they feel about the gsp.

there is no duty/taxes on purchases under $20, they are ripping you off

This new "import fee" is ridiculous. A very good reason for me, a long time and loyal ebayer such as yourself, to say goodbye to ebay..until this fee is taken away. It has turned me off of ebay for good.
