Seller Ripped Us Off

Purchased a lovely compact from this seller, paid and waited. As time ticked by, contacted three times since this is what eBay insists buyers do. Nothing came.  I was running out of time to file a claim. Suddenly seller is no longer registered with ebay.

Ebay tells me, I need to work it out with seller if they return. ???????

During my messages, seller was registered, just failed to answer me. I tried to work it out. So what now?

Try and see if you can file a claim with Paypal

Is your PayPal account backed by a credit card ? If so , you can try for a charge back on that. If not, then keep calling eBay and bugging them, they will get tired of hearing from you, and maybe refund you out of eBays pocket. Just do not give up.

A lot of the messages you get from eBay are just robot responses.

It is true that the first step in dealing with a problem is talking to the seller.

But you did that. EBay’s robot doesn’t understand that.

So go on to the next step, which as the other posters have said is to make a Paypal claim. Do this immediately because you only have 45 days and you are getting close. Make sure you say that the seller is NARU (Not A Registered User). It will speed things up.

If the 45 days have passed, go to the credit card you used to back your PP payment and start a chargeback. Have all your transaction numbers, dates and values handy for the customer service clerk.

well the saga continues... was referred to a rep who handles claims and was told that because it was bought from Canada, not U.S. buyer protection does not cover this instance.... say what? Wow! Talk about a harsh lesson learned. Apparently, ebay doesn't cover Canadians for buyer protection... guess I didn't read THAT in all the pages I've read...

Sorry, but that is just wrong ! I would be calling back and asking for a supervisor. I would also be using Google to get the emails for corporate muckity mucks, and firing off a few indignant emails to them. I have done it before and it does work. They do not like to be bothered by us, and so they do something to make you go away.

The robot is slightly smarter than the customer rep.

Yes ask for a supervisor and if you know the name of the rep, report it. What a maroon, as Bugs Bunny often remarks.

If eBay is a problem, go to Paypal. The PP resolution centre is on the top right hand of your account page. They have your money and can return it.

The cc is the last call. Work with eBay and PP first. The advantage of the cc is just that they have longer deadlines.

The way that I understand it is that Canadians make their claims through Paypal, not ebay. When you go to the resolution center to file a claim I believe it takes you to paypal.

Hi all, wanted to let you all know how things are going. Okay, first off thanks a bunch for all of your advice. We were at a loss. Right now, as it sits, I contacted Pay Pal as advised and explained what happened. The seller is in the UK. So I explained I was for whatever reasons, unable to open a claim/leave feedback because the seller is no longer registered on ebay. okay, so the PPrep, opened one for me in Pay Pal. He opened it and closed it lol. So I'm waiting to ensure the money was refunded back into my account. So thanks again. This was very helpful for anyone who experiences the same thing, so hopefully ebay will leave it here for others to read. 🙂
