I just stumbled onto this listing for a rare Mosrite doubleneck guitar: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230939803380
I've had this in my saved searched for years, hoping to find one for a relatively good price, hence my interest. Low price, no reserve, seemed too good to be true, so I reverse Google image searched for the main image, and you can do the same if you so choose: http://i.imgur.com/TZOFybi.png
Low and behold, the first result is an exact match, linking to this Japanese website that I assume helps Japanese people who don't speak English to browse eBay: http://www.sekaimon.com/i190727435913
On THAT webpage I found the link to the eBay auction from where the original picture was taken: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-MOSRITE-JOE-MAPHIS-DOUBLE-NECK-/190727435913
Unfortunately the images have disappeared because it was posted last year, but the seller descriptions are exactly the same, word for word. The original auction is for $4900USD, did not sell, and was located in Osteen, Florida. The scam auction says it's located in Lincoln, Nebraska, but the auction is in Great Britain Pounds? If the original auction didn't sell, how did it make its way from Florida to Nebraska?
Anyway, 0 feedback, scrambled username, I would really like it if this post helps to ensure that another guitar aficionado doesn't get burned.

It's awful to stumble on something like that and be pretty much helpless to do something about it.
You can report the seller but that rarely gets results for obvious reasons.
This situation is more blatant then most.......... but.......
There are countless scenarios on ebay where people spend big bucks because they don't really know what they're buying.
Happens all the time............

Report it anyway. If you do something might happen. If you don’t nothing will .

I reported it right before I posted about it here. I only wish that there were an option to write my own reason for suspicion rather than selecting from the canned options, and I find it quite disconcerting that there is no way to write an in-depth summary of why I filed the report. Five hours left on the auction and it's over $1000. I feel even worse for whoever is about to lose money, and even MORE worse that I can't warn whoever is bidding. 😕

Ebay use to be a good place to buy and sell, but it has turned out to be nothing more than a Scam on many fronts these days.

I would say the Scam Fronts are a very small minority & they are usually caught up with.

Well, the original auction was relisted, but we don't see if it has sold. Maybe it has and the new buyer is selling it too. OR the original seller moved and is now relisting his guitar under a new ID. I don't see anything wrong with that....??
