This week, the federal government passed legislation kicking off GST/HST relief on select items from December 14, 2024. The legislation removes the federal portion of sales tax from these items until February 15, 2025.
Sellers do not need to take any action for their eBay customers to receive this sales tax relief.
eBay already collects the required sales tax at the point of sale and remits it on behalf of sellers. Listings for items that are covered under the sales tax holiday will automatically have the appropriate sales tax adjustments made starting on December 14, 2024.
