To sell or not to sell hockey cards

Hi; It would actually depend on the condition of the cards, the player on the card and the set manufacturer. Most cards from the 90's were over produced and tend not to have very much value unless they are rookie cards of a star player. Cards from the 80's are still sought after but condition is very important. Same thing for cards of the 70's. The older the cards the better, especially if they are in good shape. Some very old cards can be quite valuable even if they have some light damage or flaw. The player on the card is key to price. For example; a Gordie Howe rookie in mint condition (if you can find one) would be considerably more expensive than a Steve Yzerman rookie. Both were great players but Howe's card was issued in a time period when cards were not valued monetarily like they are nowadays and were handled and misused so finding one in pristine condition is much harder than finding a Stevie Y. I would suggest looking through the cards and look through completed sales on ebay or purchase a Beckett price guide to determine the price range of the cards you have and decide then if it's worth it to you to sell.  Alternatively, you could just visit a card shop and ask them if they want to buy them or take lots of pictures and list as a lot on ebay. Either way you should get some sort of idea on the value before hand so you don't get taken. Hope this helps and if you don't have any collector friends or local card shops you can always ask a member of the ebay community who has an interest in cards to help you value them.    nsdan
