Hi Tyler. Sorry if this question puts you in an awkward place but I've got to ask.... should we be expecting a .ca mini spring update along the same lines as the update released for .com this afternoon?

Hi @kawartha-ephemera - I don't normally answer anything until tomorrow, but wanted to reply here that the Canadian Early Seller Update (man that's a lot of capital letters) is live as of a moment or two ago. We posted an announcement about it as well as pinned a few posts. If you give that a review and then drop any questions or input about it on the Seller Update board I'd appreciate it!

I realize eBay has a rationale behind this but it would be very nice for buyers when looking at a sellers feedback if they could see the item it specifically relates to? Buyers use feedback to check a sellers customer service, delivery history and product(s) quality. With the current display, it is impossible to tell what a feedback actual is describing. As time goes on eBay seems to be making more information/features difficult to locate or completely impossible to find all in an attempt to eliminate direct contact between a buyer and a seller. Information that buyers and sellers depended on in the past to make the shopping experience a smooth one for both parties. 
 
Examples attached:
Positive Feedback: Sweet knife! Nicely Packed. Fast delivery. Thanks
Negative Feedback: Hard as a rock don’t recommend.
Neutral Feedback: This is too noisy to use. Had to replace but not seller's fault.
 
Anyone with time to match the feedback to the seller and item please call me at ......... Thanks

I am not happy at all with the new Good Until Cancelled change that is coming up

 

Could you please tell me the reason for this change. Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see how this benefits anyone on any level except for eBay collecting extra fees from people who forget to Cancel in time. 

 

Trying to understand, help me out with this

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies  - this change was made a number of years ago. We were fielding a number of requests for 'privatization' of individual item numbers on feedback profiles (sensitive items for sale, gifts, etc). The only real option at that time was the privatization of the entire feedback profile, which wouldn't help sellers since their profiles must be public. 

 

The decision was made to remove the item title and 'view item' instead. I don't see that particular functionality coming back in the future, but I definitely see your point about seller and item research. Product reviews are a way of trying to help potential buyers do their research, though for OOAK and other items that don't have a product page it can be more difficult.

Hi @around_again_records - I definitely want to address that, but would rather not split the conversation between here and the Seller Update board (especially since the 'Powers that Be' review the update board specifically for input and your feedback regarding the update). 

 

I'll be reviewing and replying there throughout the rest of the week!

Thanks for the explanation Tyler. Appreciated. Regarding product reviews in my personal opinion, you have to take them with a grain of salt. Never really being a fan of them and make me very nervous when they get "attached" to something I am selling. And with so many people doing reviews for profit how many are actually factual?
