Hi Tyler,
Most of my listings are 30 day, and I understand that will not be available in April. Can you tell me if eBay will automatically change them over to GTC? I have just finished going through over 600 listing changing the increased shipping cost, I sure don't want to start going through them all again.

I am worried about the GTC listings change coming up next month. I don't have the time to be constantly monitoring my listings to see if I will be double charged or not. Very unfair to us sellers. My time is taken up looking after my elderly parents. I am used to relisting my items for 30 days & not worrying about them. Also that way they are always considered new listings & are placed on top of the heap. I sell a lot that way. Now they will be considered old listings & be put at the bottom of the heap. I do sell some items when my listings are ending too, but that is usually for my auction items not so much for fixed listings. I really think eBay is doing a big disservice to longtime unique item sellers.

Third person with the same issue! lol
I'd like my 30 days fixed price listing to stay as 30 days fixed price listing. I don't ever use GTC and don't plan to use them at all in the near future. I know I suggested to someone else that they'd just have to set a calendar to remind themselves to manually end the listing. I usually only run about 100-300 listings at one time, which isn't a lot, but I do find having to end them myself later to be a huge pain in the rear, I can't imagine someone with 1000+ listings having to do that manually. ALL of my listings are 30 days FP unless there is an auction listing promo.
Seriously, sometimes I wonder if people who come up with these new changes simply get drunk, write out a bunch of ideas, put them in a hat and then draw them out, and viola Spring Seller Update!

Looks like everyone has different reasons for 30 days fixed price listing. For me I like to see how many people have looked at or is watching my item so I can decided if I want to lower the price the next month, or when I'm not sure what price to list it for. I only list items with GTC when I list at the lowest price I will sell for. It's going to be hard to decide how much to sell some items for when the 30 day option will be gone

Hello Tyler,
Relist or Sell Similar is a way for sellers to proof or tweak a listing on the fly. Now, once GTC gets"dropped" on us we will no longer have that option. Like the expression goes...Out of sight, out of mind. This is now what will be happening going forward. In my day to day relisting tasks I'm still seeing Russian Federation/Brazil being added to each listing even though those are on my specific do not ship to list. Should I be forced to ship to a country I don't feel comfortable shipping with due to past experiences with shipping there because of a listing eBay updated instead of myself? Is there a possibility of other features getting added to a listing without a sellers knowledge? I'm afraid to imagine.
The other recurring observation is the shipping services are displaying in a completely new order compared to how the listing was originally created. I have them in a specific order so they will display properly when someone does a search. I do not want to be the seller with the highest shipping. This will cause me to lose even more traffic. (This is something that started to happen just after the rate increases in February and is still continuing).
Last point of contention. I really don't feel I should have to cancel GTC listings to stay in MY budget. My listing fees are my expenses. If I go over my limit on listings or choose to use .10 cent listings at the end of the month, that should be MY choice. Not an eBay programmer.

Questions/Comments re GTC
As ebay is aware by now, sellers aren't happy with this utterly foolish move. Most sellers want a last piece of control over "their" inventory, ie when and for how long they will list it. Now we can do that and if one wishes GTC they can do that now also. A quote from yourself: "
Take stock of your stock
What’s been hanging around for too long? From an eBay perspective ‘too long’ would be more than 90 days without any sales activity (called ‘stale’ in San Jose)." Hmmmmmmm 3/12/19, yesterday!!!!
As many have read, sellers are trying to figure out "cancelling the GTC listing" for a time frame that works best for them. My question (s) are (is) : Seller lists 200 items, on day 28 decides to cancel 100
A. In the "cancel item" what reason do they choose? There isn't an option such as "Seller wishes to end listing. (Period)
B. Will seller get 100 strikes for ending "their" listings ?
C. If seller gets strikes will that in effect (a) loss of top rated discount ? (b) put them in 14% FVF ?
(c) suspended for continually ending GTC listings
Looks like a big, desperate money grab in which ebay feels they can then also come out and say "but look everyone we didn't raise listing fees or FVF" YES indirectly you did.
On a side note, if ebay can't even put out an announcement or promo with the link "WORKING" and all the other DAILY glitches, whatever makes them think that they are competent enough to manage money ..... there's enough simple proof that they are not !!!!!

Hi @triber - your listings won't be automatically changed to GTC*. When you go to relist them after they've ended (once the mandate is in place), your only duration option will be Good Til Cancelled.
*If you list with automation rules, i.e. setting up the 'Automatically relist this item when it ends if it does not sell' in the old Selling Manager days, when an item hits the end of its 30 days after the new requirement goes into effect it will relist it as GTC automatically. However, few people used the automation rules, so I would guess this doesn't apply to your listings.

Thanks for your input on this @2nd-time-around-jewelry .
While your items wouldn't get the 'newly listed' boost when they renew, ***it will continue to get extra exposure when getting close to the renewal date***, and watchers will be given alerts that it is ending soon.
I realize this is asking you to change the way you list and manage your items, and that requires a lot of shift in your business. This type of change isn't something that we make lightly, and without being confident that this is going to be the best way to continue to attract buyers to your items, from within eBay and from external search engines.
***
I want to clarify a few things as it pertains to the Best Match algorithm, and correct incomplete or incorrect information I have given previously:
Good ‘Til Cancelled listings renew every 30 days, keeping their watcher count, sales history and item number. If a buyer is watching your item they will be alerted when a GTC listing is approaching its renewal date.

Hi @bunbar - a shift to GTC is going to mean a change in the way you approach your market research, to be sure, and that does mean potentially more work from you while you figure out a new system that works better for you.
Something you could consider doing is listing a mid-range price on your GTC items with Best Offer added and set to auto-decline anything below your lowest price. You could also evaluate monthly based on views and watchers if running a markdown manager sale to bring item prices down to your lowest price as a trigger to watchers to get a 'deal' would work too.
There will definitely be a transition, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your process. I'm hopeful that we'll see more traffic to your items this way in the long run. Thanks!

I’m always curious about shipping calculator issues so do you would mind giving an example of one of your listings that is not showing in the correct order. I scrolled through a few but couldn’t find an obvious one.
For your Brazil, Russia problem, if its doing what Im thinking of I don’t think it will actually show you shipping to those countries...it is just showing them checked off on their own right? Have you tried leaving them checked off on one listing and seeing if they will show in your shipping tab as a ‘ship To’ place? I could be wrong but I think that it may be a glitch that’s been around for a long time and shows on the listing form but it doesn’t actually affect the live listing.
Tyler, when I was looking at Lotz’s listings I noticed that the tracked packet est. delivery time is way off for some countries. This was pointed out a long time ago but I don’t know if it was fixed and broken again or if it was never fixed. An example is item 401708705720 where Tracked packet shows an eta of 2-4 business days to the UK but according to the CP calculator on their site, the eta is 8 business days. I checked a few other European countries such as Spain, Switzerland and Italy. They also showed 2-4 business days although the CP TP eta to Italy is 10 business days.

Yes, also not happy to see freedom of choice taken away. As sellers we are the folks who pay ebay the fees to list and sell. Should we not have choice to decide what works for us? I like being able to control when my items end. I don't always want to relist every item every month. More time spent manually ending listings. Less time listing new items.
Hi @forester_studios - you're still able to decide when your listings end, but you're correct that it is something you would need to do manually.
As I've mentioned earlier, this is a change we believe will bring additional exposure to your items and increase your sales. Thanks!

Regarding transit times, in most cases, those are best case scenarios especially with International tracked or non-tracked services. Your average customer has no idea how long customs clearance may take. With non-tracked, there is no way to document so the seller is on the hook when an item gets delayed even though they have no control over the item once its in customs fingers. It's like giving a seller credit for a shipment arriving early. All you can do when a customer complains about a shipment being "late" is to let them know it could be stuck in customs. Usually, they just jump the gun and file a claim without asking.

Hi @izzame - not sure I understand your comment about the Seller Article posted yesterday. An item that has no sales history for 90 days or more is considered 'stale'. That happens regardless of the listing format (GTC or other durations). Happy to clarify if you have a question about it!
Answers to your hypothetical are below:
A. Ending your items is not the same as a cancellation. The most applicable reason in this case is probably 'The item is no longer available for sale'.
B. No
C. Ending a fixed price item is not the same as cancelling an order. There is not a penalty for this
Thanks!

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies (and @pjcdn2005 too) -
When it comes to shipping exclusions, order and delivery estimate I haven't heard anything back. I'll shake the tree and see if I can get an update.
Thanks for the thoughts on GTC too!
