MP and eBay Processing a Transaction

tyler@ebay

Is there a standard time frame for eBay processing a payment received in MP or is it a random window? For my first sale yesterday I received an email that customer had paid. Actual processing time was 15 + hours to move funds to pending. (Required a stamp so no big deal.) Just had another sale and also shows processing. Until funds move to pending there are no funds to pay for postage. And unfortunately this 2nd transaction requires US Small Packet Air so will be short on the fuel surcharge. This processing lag time would be unfairly affecting a sellers specified handling time.

Hi Lotz,

If it shows paid and ready to ship in Sellers Hub then I would ship.  I often only get an Item Sold email and no follow-up Paid email.

When I was first on MP back in Nov, I used Shippo for my parcels.  About a month later I got an invite to use "ebay labels shipping" which I activated and started using.  I had several problems with it at first but it seems to be better now with the exception of the fuel charge for Small Packet US not showing on the purchase page but it is included when the charge appears on my account.

The shipping charges are billed to my MP account - they are slow to appear, sometimes a week after I have purchased and then I will get a bunch all at once.  They will take from my available amount - should I ever have a time when I have no money in MP then they will take from my bank account.

I have had no issue with receiving my payments each week.

I don't have a store and I don't have an invoice to pay so I have no idea if you can pay your store fees from your MP account - somehow I doubt it.

According to what has been reported on dot com with MP there will be no need for an invoice going forward unless you have any special charges like a store or listing upgrades. Each transaction is an entity on itself. Tax has been charged on each line and any credits *FVF's Discounts* paid back. To itemize charges for the month you would need to generate a report in a format that works for you. That could be one of the tiny advantages of MP. 1st to Month end vs 16th to 15th billing periods.

Re: MP and eBay Processing a Transaction

   Thanks for asking  Lotz

I promised the MP rep to wait 4 more days.  I'm waiting because I can.  I sent a large item to Ohio and paid $105 for shippping out of pocket. I've contacted eBay For Business, the  eBay MP office and Tyler. Tyler passed me on without assistance, EBay for Business passed me on and now I'm waiting 4 "business" days (6 actually) for my money as advised by the MP rep. So far none of them have looked in on me. How does it feel you ask....?

Managed Payments, no wait, specifically Managed Payments CANADA is eBay's program. It's  not the banks'. eBay processed the MP applications. eBay tested the seller accounts for functionality. eBay made promises for a better "Seller Experience" not the banks.   From what I see loyal Sellers accepted MP (like all the other mandatory rollouts) and complied as best they can. "the buck" lands on eBay, litteraly.

Managed Payments is eBay's "widget".  Ebay sold it to Sellers.  Many seemed to have received broken widgets.  Ebay needs to communicate, acknowlwege us & honor the "Ebay Guarantee".

MP is an "Item Not As Described".  Fix it, replace it, refund it within a reasonable amount of time. Isn't that what Sellers do?

Some of us are selling and not getting paid. Some are having trouble getting paid.  Some can't pay their operating expenses. Sellers can't comply with Revenue Canada's GST requirements.

2020 proved Canadians and the world want to purchase from us  online. I don't have time to troubleshoot this. I'm trying to move from a hobby to full time.  I have thousands of items to list but I'm here instead. EBay is supposed to be my partner.

How do I feel? Unsure, embarrassed and somewhat foolish.

Re: MP and eBay Processing a Transaction

Since Feb 22, 2021 5 sales with MP. For the first 3 transactions item is paid email arrived within 10 minutes of sale acknowledgement. Last 2 transactions Feb 25, 2021 acknowledgement of sale emails arrived but no item is paid emails. Still show in the state of processing approx. 48 hours after the fact. eBay fees are removed immediately. Unfortunately the released fees barely cover the shipping for the last 2 transactions. This could be a problem for some sellers depending on what type of items they sell.

Re: MP and eBay Processing a Transaction

The whole MP situation is ludicrous. The banks don't know what criteria are causing payouts to fail... Ebay's "deposit verification process" is severely broken. I mean, even the Canada Revenue Agency will deposit funds into my account with less "verification". Shouldn't logging into your account and linking be enough??? They've created this mess, and they should be held accountable for it, and it should be dealt with PRONTO! Being force fed something that doesn't work is completely unacceptable!

Re: MP and eBay Processing a Transaction

Since I complied with eBay's request for me to join Managed Payments last January I haven't recieved a SINGLE CENT from any of my sold items. My account has always been kept up to date. I've always paid Ebay their fees fully in advance.

I'm a senior on a fixed income. I've notified eBay FOUR times. Since then eBay has removed all of their fees from my bank and from my sales during this time.  If they have some sort of "techinical issue" they could easily have sent my money to PayPal as ws the staus quo until I signed on in January. At least I could have access to my hard earned money.

I've sold on eBay since 2013. Knowing all of this eBay hasn't bothered to reach out to say, "Hey Wayne, we're sorry for the gliche. Can we help?"...  but Nope, Nothing,,, Notta. Not a single thing. It's not like they lost some photos. This time eBay "gliched" 100% of my proceeds from sales.

Shame on eBay CANADA... Shame on you for choosing to be osteriches and not openly discussing this after a dozen similar complaints from sellers who you haven't paid.

To sell effectively Sellers need to be positive, happy, focused, and employ effective time manegement skills. Working in a toxic environement diffuses all of that. Shame. Shame eBay Canada
