For anyone who lists books these are the category maps that are available between the 2 sites:
Canada: https://pages.ebay.ca/sitemap.html
USA: https://pages.ebay.com/sitemap.html
Note: Canadian sellers no longer are able to list in Wholesale & Bulk lots because there is no category on ca. See how cookbooks are handled between the 2 sites.
This is only one section for comparison. There are other categories that have similar omissions/discrepancies. The categories/sub-categories "should" be exact matches between the 2 sites. To extend further it means Canadian sellers are being forced to put listings in inaccurate categories due to no fault of their own making them more difficult to find than they should be. From my past listing experiences in eBay's mind it used to be most important to list in the correct category.

Disclaimer: If you go to actual category map on both sites many of the categories/sub-categories are NOT active.

Click on the nonfiction fiction and nonfiction category on the .ca site map. It appears to be in Mandarin or something similar.
The site maps don't appear to have been updated. In many cases, those broken links are because those categories do not exist any more as a separate category. For example, if you look at cookbooks, there is no separate category, they are listed under books.
The site map does not reflect the categories that sellers can or can not list on. It's very possible that .ca and .com do not have the same categories but you can't show that via the site maps as the categories showing on those links are not what is used on the listing form. Are there specific categories on the two sites that you have noriced are different when you are listing?

To be honest not really sure what was wrong having a category for cookbooks to keep cookbooks in. You would think looking there vs books or non fiction would be a no brainer.
My biggest concern is the fact that Lots or Mixed lots have become very difficult to next to impossible to list on ca. There are a few lot categories that are active on com(less on ca) but I am unable to list there because I require calculated shipping. The few that are available are basically a catchall for everything else. 2nd point is if a buyer (US) during the search process clicks on category because the the categories are not in sync they will not see any Canadian listings. This puts Canadian sellers at an unfair disadvantage.
This is the best example I can find on dot com. (I personally wouldn't recommend listing butane cannisters or working lighters and shipping by mail but to each their own)

Majority of listings that come up under that category are located in the USA (small testing) with shipping to Canada. As per cp rules they shouldn't be sent by mail. In USA with USPS they can ONLY be shipped by surface mail only with prior written approval, provided all the applicable requirements of 343.25 are met. International Mail: Prohibited.

As per Canadapost: Can lighters be posted?
