Has anyone recently downgraded from a Premium to a Basic store? Were there any problems caused by doing so? Were you still able to qualify for a quantity(??) of additional free listings or did that suddenly end?

I have discovered eBay does NOT advise a seller that their store subscription is about to expire with an email in advance. They just renew it automagically.

I moved this ID down to Basic because there have been so many Free Listing promotions lately.
I went for the monthly rate in case I change my mind.
I will be keeping my eyes open around the end of the month to see if I am being charged.
Because we get an equal number of listings on dotCA and dotCOM with Stores, so that 350 "free" listings magically becomes 700, I should be able to put some slow movers on my Unsold List for a couple of months until there is room - or a promotion.

In speaking to eBay CS they were unable(refused) to tell me how many bonus. au gratis, free, above and beyond, promotional listings are available with a basic store. During the chat I felt like we needed to be under the Cone of Silence to discuss this topic. I have close to 1000 listings and adding slowly. I didn't want to suddenly be on the hook for 650 x .20 for any overage. That was why I was trying to confirm before switching.

PS. When/if I switch will let you know if a pound of flesh or signing my will over to them is required during the process.

I downgraded my store from Premium to Basic at the start of December last year. I have always paid the monthly rate as I can switch back & forth without a penalty. We have had so many free bonus listings in the last 5 months. But I always watch to see if they are continuing to offer these each month. Also I have been renewing most of my listings at the end of the month in case they stop offering the bonus listings for the next month.

Based on comments in other threads. the counters for the month are reset to zero at the time of the switch over. So if you had 600 used so far this month that would reset to 0 under the new store level. If you have the April 100 000 free listing promo, you will have more than enough "free" listings if you switch this month.
Basic Store
250 auctions
350 fixed price (all categories)
10 000 fixed price in select categories

@lotzofuniquegoodies On this ID with a Premium Store I got 50K Free Listing on dotCOM and 100K on dotCA in February.
In March I got 50K free on both sites
In April I got 50K free on dotCA and 10K free on dotCOM
So it varies from month to month and site to site.
Other variations would be related to category. And perhaps, I dunno, number/value of sales the previous month? how many Item Specifics you are including? maybe the phase of the moon?
Another ID with a Basic Store got 10K free on dotCA in April 100K on dot CA in March and February.
The clerk may not have told you because she didn't know. There may even be a random number generator involved.

Thanks.
I guess the bigger concern for any sellers that were to go wayyyyyyyy over their store allotment is that "if" eBay ends these promos suddenly there is no way to store listings for longer than 3 months. Houston? We have a problem!!!

Well..... I keep all my descriptions in a text document file on my computer. Same with pictures.
It's not instant but I can rebuild a new listing or much faster than I can write a new one.
The descriptions include my usual HTML code and my standard ToS.
YMMV.

Made the switch yesterday to a basic store. Seemed to go off without a hitch. Does anyone recall wherther store fees are billed for the previous month or for the next month? Comparison views for monthly offers attached.

When you upgraded your store from Premium to Basic was the explanation of the credit clear and concise for the 1st month of the new store? Mine was Premium to Basic done yearly with no months remaining. 59.95 + GST ----> 19.95 + GST. Got a credit for 1.95. so a little baffled by their math.

What's changing with the new Stores search experience?
When a buyer searches in the new Store experience, the results will display in the standard search results page view. The search results will continue to be limited to the items you're selling in your store.
Will buyers have the option to search the custom categories in my Store?
If your Store has custom categories, those items will be regrouped to the most appropriate eBay category for users to find when searching your Store.
Why is eBay changing the Store search experience?
Stores have made this change to search in an effort to consolidate and align with other areas on eBay. Additionally, users will not have the ability to apply a number of filters that were not previously available in a constrained search inside of a Store.

I tend to think the eligibility for free listings do have to do with how many listings you add in a monthly period combined with how many sales are generated. I say this, as a new seller, well new-ish, I decided to delve back into the world of selling on ebay in February this year. I started with only being able to list 50, then quickly it rose to 100, then 250, then 350, then 1000 and now I am able to list 10000, and here we are only in May.
The reason I am reading this thread and OP is I am wondering if it is lucrative enough for me to subscribe to a store (again). I had one years ago under a different ID, but the world of ebay and selling has changed so dramatically.
I have lots to list, but, like the OP, I don't want to get slammed with expotential listing fees. However, I do believe the limit towards free listings are geared to activity on your account (listings, sales and traffic)
I thnk we also have to remember, they want to encourage us to list and use their site, just as much as they want the buyers to use their site. With that statement, I cannot see ebay dinging us for insertion fees unneccessarily.....then again....maybe I am being naive 😏

The tricky bit is Good Til Cancelled (GTC) Fixed Price Listings.
These run for 30 days and then automatically re-list.
So.
If you have a Store with 350 "free" listings and you list 351 items, you pay 30c that month for the extra listing in addition to the subscription*.
The next month you get a Promotion with 10,000 free listings. The 351 automatically re-list and you add another 100. No added charge.
The next month the Promotion disappears and if you are not on top of it, you have 101 listings to pay for or $30.30.
Now in fact, we have been getting those Free Listing Promotions pretty steadily, and while the number does vary, for most small sellers it all works just fine. Maybe 30c or $1.20 here and there.
But we do have to be aware.
Still we are grownups and don't need babysitting by Big Mama eBay.
*If you are paying a subscription, those "free" listings are not free. Divide the cost of the sub by the actual number of listings you have made to find out what each really costs.
