Sounds like increased eBay security.
Have you entered the code sent to you?
...
A second view: Over on amazon a seller's "new" device requires entering a code received either by a text message, voice message or authenicator app when they sign in. The requirement can be turned off after the first time. Introduced by the A-river last year over the bodies of dead sellers. Too many hijacked accounts due to A-river security holes.

It's an account verification step. Done to ensure you are a real, live person and not a bot or someone establishing shadow accounts for nefarious purposes. I think it kicks in after a certain number of log-ins with no associated transactions, but it definitely starts before you are allowed a transaction. It will continue until you comply.

That's way over the top.
Do you have cookies enabled for ebay?

If you're deleting your cookies, that's why you're getting prompted each time you login. The cookie is how the site remembers not to prompt you for the two-factor login.
If you'd like to continue to delete the majority of your cookies daily but don't want to be prompted on eBay again, you could consider the instructions in this article, which tells you how to delete most--instead of all--cookies, leaving a few for the sites you use most.

I don't delete cookies and it is now constantly asking me to verify my account with a cell number.
My cell is none of their business and only used for outgoing calls.
Ebay does not need it so they can send all kinds of garbage to it or for what ever reason.
They do enough sticking their nose where it does not belong.

If you don't want to give your cell number--then don't.
In order to comply with site rules, you must provide accurate contact info, but it's completely up to you whether you choose to share a particular number or not. If your cell number is private, you're welcome to keep it that way.

They have all my current info. I have been here close to 20 years.
Maybe they should spend as much time fixing issues as they do with this type of garbage.
And while I am at it, I and many others are in Canada, why are our reports in US dollars?

If we have your current info, then you're in good shape!
I'm not sure what you're referring to about the reports, but since it's off-topic, feel free to PM me or start a new thread about it.

"And why I am at it, I and many others are in Canada, why are our reports in US dollars?"
Yes. This is a source of massive irritation to me. Two years ago, I asked the same question. I list in CAD, I sell in CAD. I am loyal to CAD. I pay my fees in CAD. I pay my taxes on my fees in CAD. Showing me USD Sales totals on my Seller Dashboard is therefore lazy and uninspired programming. ebay already has my data in CAD. Please use it.

I think we were replying at the same time. As my post says, I'm with dutchman on this one.

How is cleaning up cookies every night not a paranoid move? Unless you’re on public wifi all the time or using a shared computer, cleaning up cookies every night is overkill. Having proper firewall and antivirus with the proper settings and knowing how to identify websites that might be compromised would be a safer move than just clearing cookies every night. But that finding those info would be more appropriate on another platform, not eBay.
Perhaps you you could do some research on cookies and internet security as well so that you’d be better informed and less paranoid... before, you were paranoid about PayPal and tried to convince yourself that doing local pickup only would work. Now it’s the internet... and really, no one is 100% safe on the internet anyway.
Dutchman, it’s strange that you’re getting phone verification requests all the time. Is there some sort of account or browser setting you might have changed? I never get them with just logging in normally. In fact, I never get called by eBay either even though they have my cell phone on file. The only time I get called is when I requested to be called by CS.

I went searching and could find nothing about 2 step/2 factor authentication/verification in the eBay.CA help files. Could you point people (or at least me) where to look. Or nudge the person in charge of the help files for something more visible.
...
Speaking as someone in the minority 13% of Canadians who do not have a cellphone, an eBay procedure which would require texting to access their eBay account would be very annoying.
