eBay Labels Processing

In the past the window for eBay Labels to be billed were from 2 to 4 days with the rare exception of 1 day and 5 to 6 at the high end. Processed a parcel yesterday to Vancouver early yesterday. It has NOT be dropped/scanned at the local SD postal outlet. In checking charges it has been billed already/removed from funds. Maybe the new normal or real time billing? Anyone else notice anything similar happening with their shipments using eBay Labels?

Nope, but it's possible they're A/B testing or something.

You took it to the PO on Sunday and the clerks did not scan the label when they accepted it?

Or do you mean that it has not reached Vancouver overnight ? Canada Post doesn't pick up from postal outlets on Sundays.

Oh,

EBay has already taken payment although the parcel has not been accepted by the PO.

@reallynicestamps

I do not drop off on the weekend unless I happen to be out. My depot does not have weekend pickups so no point. The charge in the past did not arrive until item had reached the main local sort plant...assuming to confirm measurements(parcel audit). This time it happened in advance. (This is only important because of no way to always have funds available to cover postage charges. Was NEVER a concern with Shippo. (As per the original announcement of MP if labels were generated using eBay charge would be moved either from pending/processed funds. I've heard on numerous occasions funds being pulled from a bank account or CC vs pending/released.

Mine has still been 2 - 3 days. I've had three this past week including one I took in yesterday and no charges have come out early (though it would be nice if they did to line up with the processed payment for same item!)

I got my first .99 cent extra charge with eBay labels also (not sure if fuel surcharge, it was going to Quebec City, when I've sent identical size packages to Montreal no extra charges so not sure, I'm in Ontario).

On a separate note, have you ever gotten additional charges on the Expedited Lite packages? They change/default to that weird 5 x 5 x 5 when you print them so wouldn't seem right if they did. I've only used the Lite twice and so far so good but was curious.

Only have sent out 2 or 3 of the Expedited Lite. All showed the default 5 x 5 x 5 over ride measurements. The best way to test if the rates are weight based is by using the calculator or checking using 2 different weights in a currently running listings. I am getting the impression the rate is flat up to 200 grams From my testing the rate changes when the postal code gets updated. I have seen super high variances when setting up a listing using this service.

As for the extra charge it would be super nice if it was documented with an explanation. Had a few over the years with Shippo but there was nothing included in the way of an explanation as to what caused the increase. Makes the appeal process difficult.

One of the ebay labels I purchased on June 16th was finally billed on July 10th.

This is the longest I have ever waited for a label to be billed and the amount removed from my  funds, normally it happens between 3-4 days.

So they do downgrade (too) on charges, but still would be nice if there was an explanation somewhere so we could see the reason(cause) for any changes.. In practice the 2 pages should match.

Has anyone caught situations where the cost for a postal label has increased when using eBay labels? As I recall with Shippo you did receive an invoice with the difference as a separate charge. You got an email advising you of that invoice for those charges with an explanation including any tax/fuel surcharge difference. Nice and neat.

Billing times(between time of drop off and charges showing up in eBay) are still all over the map and there was never any follow up to the reason for this. I'm still seeing 2 to 6 days. I had 1 that took 9 days to process. Your results may vary.

As per someone else that had brought this up there is still no way for seller to complete a manual payment for any fees vs eBay doing this on its own schedule and default method on file. (When there are no available funds.) Sellers have limited control of any funds processing on eBay's schedule plus usually when they pay bills THEY choose where from.

I have in the past seen a slight upcharge billed (between $1 or $2) but that was way back and I can't remember if it gave reason or just said upcharge and linked the waybill number so you knew which one. When I looked at label summary now it is not showing anymore (too long ago, over 90 days) but no upcharges on the last 25 or so there now.

Not only are the ones lately all been okay, the other thing I am pleased with is that the actual charging of the label is in only 1 or 2 days now (as opposed to 4 or 5 used to be), 95% of them now come from the processed payments instead of bank later. I thought this is perhaps since eBay is probably seeing a much, much higher volume of sellers using their labels with the big discounts and so they are pushing them through faster.
