So I sold an item on eBay while it was shipping it got delayed. Buyer opened an item not received case on me and won it for some reason even though the item had tracking showing that it was still in transit. So the buyer got all their money back plus shipping. Well now the item has been delivered and I can't get any money or my item back since they already closed the case. The real thing to understand here is that I a seller did nothing wrong and lost my product and money for shipping.
Hi @libl07 - it looks like you've been working with CS to review this decision. They'll be able to take a look at what happened and see what options are available for you.
Thanks!
A buyer can open an item not received case after the estimated delivery date and will win unless you have proof of delivery. If tracking does show that the item was recently scanned and still on its way there, you can ask ebay to extend the waiting period so that the buyer cannot ask ebay to step in as quickly.
So now we play a mind game encourage the customer to return the refund.
Send the customer a cheerful and polite Message saying that you see he has now received the purchase. Apologize for the late delivery. Remind him politely that there is a Plague on and most shipping services are backed up at three to six times Holiday levels.
The tell him that you have sent him a Paypal invoice and that he can easily return the refund by paying it.
Cheery. Friendly. Polite. Confident.
Some sellers will sweeten the pot by discounting the new invoice by the price of the shipping, which, obviously did not meet your high standards.
If you offer Free Shipping, the amount of such a discount, should you decide to give one, is up to you.

"Some reason"? The reason why the buyer prevailed in the claim is because the item didn't arrive by the last estimated delivery date given in the listing. Tracking information never says that the item will never arrive, it just dead-ends. There's no difference in how a dead-ended item and an in-transit item looks in its tracking history.

Because they have to go through eBay for a claim, some buyers may be under the impression that a refund for an AWOL item comes from some magic pot belonging to eBay or that the seller has filed a successful insurance claim for it. Did you try sending a PayPal Payment Request? Sometimes something official looking like that is taken more seriously by a buyer than a message from the seller.
You can politely send him a message saying you will send a PayPal invoice since tracking shows the item was delivered. Then go to PayPal, find the transaction and send him a money request for the total. In the message, you can add the item number, description and tracking for his reference. Good luck!
Ebay treats sellers like dirt. It's not going to change. If your lucky they offer you corporate lip service. All about the money. All day every day. Fee stacking is always the priority!
the buyers put the claim in to E Bay so you are not in favor of getting paid for the product. E Bay only cares about the buyer. they do care to offer and decent help to the seller. E Bay dose not care that the USPS or Canada post is slammed. they should be send a broadcast to all the buyers across the world and let them know there are delays. It seems E Bay would never do that it will hurt there pocket Book all they care about is the Money. you are correct the seller get it in the end alway Trust me E Bay only sides with the buyer in these cases and the seller always looses
you might want to look at other ways to sell your product.
WELCOME TO THE E BAY RIP OFF SELLERS CLUB ! I AM SICK AND TIRED OF EBAY TREATING SELLERS AS THEY DO , THEY CONTINUALLY SIDE WITH CROOKED BUYERS .
I SOLD AN ITEM AS FOR PARTS AND OR BUYER RESTORATION , I SHIPPED THE ITEM , THE BUYER RECEIVED AND GAVE ME POSITIVE FEEDBACK SAYING THE ITEM ARRIVED AND ALL WAS AS DESCRIBED , THEN ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER THE BUYER FILES A DISPUTE AS ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED AND NOW I HAVE TO PROVIDE A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL AND BE FORCED TO REFUND THE BUYER AND MOST LIKELY THE ITEM WILL RETURN WITH MISSING PARTS .
WHAT CAN A SELLER DO TO PROTECT HIMSELF AGAINST SUCH EBAY TREATMENT FROM SCAM BUYERS ? AND SCAM EBAY AS A WHOLE .
Hi everyone,

Thank you for understanding.
It's not tracking that is important. It's delivery.
Most of the services we call "tracking" are actually "confirmation of delivery" and not necessarily noted at every stop on the way.
