refusing a buyer

I am selling an expensive 18k gold neklace. Can I refuse to sell to a buyer with no, negative or insignificant feedback ? Can I state in my listing that I reserve the right to refuse a buyer ?

No one can force you to send an item to a buyer but if they make the purchase and you cancel it, you may get a defect from eBay.  Cancelling a purchase makes for unhappy customers and eBay frowns upon that.

If you are are uncomfortable about selling a high priced item online, you might want to sell it locally or on another site where the item is picked up in person and cash is paid. To be honest, I would be a little uncomfortable about selling some high priced items here as well.

A buyer cannot get negative feedback. Only a seller.

If you use the Auction format you can cancel any bid without explanation, before the bidding ends.

And you can refuse any Best Offers.

But you cannot cancel a purchase, whether it is a Fixed Price sales, an Auction win, an accepted Best Offer, or a Buy It Now option on an Auction.

You can add Signature Confirmation to any shipment- even those under the $750 demanded by eBay. Note that this drives Americans crazy for some reason.

SC, sold to the customer as being for their further protection, discourages some scammers who don't want any in person interaction with shippers.
