DEPRECATED-GUEST-ORDER-DETAILS

I ordered as a guest. (I should have ordered under my email account - which I now regret not doing) The original email from Ebay acknowledges my order. The product arrived but does not work. I have the vendors email and I have been in contact with the seller who is not helpful in resolving this matter. I just want a replacement product that works or a refund. I too get this error message, DEPRECATED-GUEST-ORDER-DETAILS when try to open any link in the original email. I don't know how to proceed with registering a complaint with ebay on the email and on the product/vendor.

Is it possible you passed the 30-day mark from date of purchase? If so, go to paypal and open a case against the seller in the Resolution Centre. If you didn't use paypal, you'll have to call your credit card company.

Are you signed out of your regular ebay ID when you try to open the link on the email?

You may have seen this already but this is what it says to do when you purchased as a guest and you want to go to the order details page so that you can request a return.

If you bought an item as a guest, you’ll need to sign in as a guest user to view your order details. Follow these steps:

  1. If you’re signed in to eBay, sign out to avoid any error messages.
  2. Find your eBay guest order confirmation email—the subject line starts with “Guest Order.”
  3. Select View order details in the email.
  4. Enter your email address and access code to sign in as a guest user.
  5. From Order details you can choose to contact the seller, leave feedback, or return the item.

You should be able to file an item return request if it is within 30 days after receiving the item or within 30 days of the latest estimated delivery time.  If you are within this timeline you do want to do this within ebay as they require that a seller pay for return shipping when an item is not as described. Paypal will require you to pay for return shipping.

If the seller does not answer the request or refuses to pay return shipping, you can ask ebay to step in after a few days.

I would recommend that you ask for a refund and not an exchange as the latter can take too long and the case may time out.
