A Canadian Member With Multiple Mailing Address Available to allow for worldwide eBay Shopping

Ok, here is the issue. I surf several ebay sites particually the UK site. On many of the items I find, watch and bid on there is worldwide shipping but occassionally some listings only allow local delivery / shipping so we must then contact the seller. The problem arises when the seller in an email agrees to ship to an alterate local address, but the seller does not change the listing to allow for a bid from other places.

On our personal eBay page I have 3 differant available mailing address, my primary Canada the 2 other alternate addresses one in the USA and one in the UK but eBay does not allow us the option when placing a bid to offer one of the other addresses. Very frustrating and discouraging to international buyers and sellers.

If a buyer is willing to supply an alternate address the seller, the seller should not have to make any changes to the listing the responsibility should be the buyers to change or supply a different address so the bid can be made. eBay should allow the alternate address option to be made available before eBay jumps in and stops a buyer from bidding.

I hope that those in charge read this message and realise that this is a change that would actually be a productive improvement to the eBay site and it would further improve their bottom line.

Get the sellers to put you on their bidder block exclusion list, this bypasses all blocks.

I believe the problem is with Paypal and not with eBay. PP allows many addresses (the reason is clear in the name "gift addresses' ) but they must all be in the same country.

Your seller must ship to a PP approved  address if he is to retain his Seller Protection.

You could pay by another service. Perhaps another online payment service does not have the multi-country exclusion. Or you could offer an International Postal Money Order which is usually very acceptable to sellers, who can cash them at their local PO.

Note however, that MO's offer no Buyer Protection. If the seller reneges on the deal you have no way of getting your money back.

Seller Protection requires sellers to ship to the address on the PayPal Transaction Details page -- not the address registered on PayPal.

The Transaction Details page is created after the buyer pays. In the past, the address did come from PayPal, but that's no longer the case. If OP wants to specify different shipping addresses, all he has to do is to either change his primary shipping address on eBay or to change his address at the checkout page. The default address on the checkout page is the primary shipping address.

Just to illustrate:

My primary shipping address is set to my address in Canada. There's a link under "Ship to" to change the shipping address.

After entering the alternate address, select 'Ship to this address' and 'Continue'. The page will then redirect to PayPal.

After clicking 'Confirm and Pay', if you login to your PayPal account and click Details next to your payment, you'll see the Transaction Details page:

The buyer block is based on the buyer's primary shipping address.

If, for example, you're about to bid on an auction that only ships to the UK, go to My eBay > Account > Addresses and mark your UK address as your primary shipping address before bidding.

You may want to contact your sellers before bidding. Some sellers cancel bids from buyers registered elsewhere -- not realizing that the buyers may have an alternate address.

Good idea. I've seen lots of posts from U.S. sellers who go into panic mode when they see a bid from an international buyer. Plus, some seem to think that if the buyer is registered in one country and has a U.S. address they must be pulling a scam.

On my buying account, that is what I do when I want to bid or buy a "US only" item. Or if the GSP shipping price is way too high and that the US price is free. As soon as I paid, I change my primary address back to my Canadian one.
