After I got a new computer, my old scanner wouldn't work with it. I got an HP scanjet G4050. I have found it impossible to get good pictures by going through several editing programs, but it works better to scan directly with the buttons on the lid.
My problem is that I edit the pictures so that one side is at least 1000 pixels, but I am finding that my pictures are about 800-950kb. I used to have them around 250-300. They are taking an age to upload on eBay. Is there a way to correct this?
Sorry to keep asking for help, I am not good with technology, and at 70 years old today, it's probably not going to impove!

In your scanning software there should be a tool for increasing the size of your pictures , eg : 100 %, 150 %, and so on. The program ( especially HP ) should show you the new size of the picture in megabytes somewhere on the same page before you click on the Finish button. I aim for a finished picture of around 10 to 12 megabytes , which your computer will compress to a size that eBay seems to like, automatically. I hope this helps you out somewhat.

You do not really need an editing program to do what I have laid out above. It should all just work for you.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have to increase the size of the pictures, I have to edit to decrease them, they are coming out way too big, but even when I decrease them to allow for the 1000 pixels for one side, they are up to 1200 megabytes, way too big. If I decrease them any more, then the pixel size is too small.
I used to do it fine on my old scanner, but I am having problems with my new one, I can find a way to reduce the megabytes but keep the 1000 pixel size for eBay pictures.

Hi Triber, I suggest you go to this HP address (put a period after the www): www hp.com/canada/products/landing/total_care/index.html and they should be able to advise you. You can talk to them online or maybe even on the phone (can't remember). I know they have been helpful for me in the past.

Thank you msmaggie, I'll check it out.
I am very busy revising, still have about 500 to go! I am not so bothered about lettermail, but bigger packages take a while and the new pricing it quite a bit extra.
