Lee Valley tools is an Ottawa based company that has been meeting the needs of serious woodworkers and gardeners for over 25 years as one of the leading mail-order and retail suppliers of woodworking tools, gardening tools, and cabinet hardware. (This was taken from their website www.leevalley.com incase you haven't heard of them).
They spend $7 million dollars a year with Canada Post.
Read about their problem here. If they can't get anywhere, what are we to do.

I'd heard about this on CBC radio, but the details make fascinating reading.
Maybe its time we all started writing to our MP's to demand an inquiry.

very good article. All true. I email Lee valley and got a positive response from their CEO.
At least Lee Valley had the clout to run major full page advertisements in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper to protest the changes made by Canada Post to their parcel delivering service.
Canada Post needs a shakeup. They need each and everyone of us to get together and start a mass email to our MP's about them.
If we organize together, I suspect we won't see the double-digits increase we seen in parcel rates in the last two years.

The complaints worked on the letterpost thing last year, and I've had personal success getting some local outlet issues dealt with right from the top. But I don't know about organizing anything. On the letterpost thing people would post away day after day complaining about it, agree it was a good idea to write, and hten post they can't be bothered to do so themselves. Many others can't stick to the facts or make ridiculously unrealistic demands. It became too frusterating to even read the threads. Ebayers overall as a group don't come across very professional sounding.
As soon as the new minsiter responsible for Canada post is named I'll be putting a letter in the mail. I alos got a quick reply form Lee valley ceo.

Hey Toby: sounds good to me. Action is louder than talks.
please forword me a copy if you don't mind and i'll put my signature to it.
i'll be writing the new Minister of International Trade as well, it seems those foreign trade commissioner have been too close for comfort and kissing each others butts.
It's a good thing all those crown corporations will be under the jurisdiction of the auditor general when the government implement its promised policy.
