Bought a phone with mismatched IMEI - is that a concern?

I bought a phone on ebay that was classifed as NEW. The IMEI number when dialing *#06# is different to the IMEI number that is on the back of the phone and on the box.

Is this a concern?

Have you tried the phone? Does it work? What country is it from? What carrier? What kind of phone is it?  Did you buy it through the global shipping program?

Could be that the phone is a repair job that has a different motherboard or the back of the phone was changed. If it is either of these then it is not new as advertised.

Thanks for the response. Given that the phone didnt work properly I was even more suspicious and just returned it to the seller
