If its just a pop can you could ship it small packet air or surface. I notice a 2-3 day difference in air and surface. You should be able to ship a pop can for $3.95 Surface, $5.60 AIR as long as the package weighs 250G or less.

Someone has made a mistake, unless the cube weight of your box is over 1 kg. You should only be paying a small packet rate.

Unless for some reason, it's over 500 g and he specifically asked about expedited (which you can do as a business client). I can't believe an empty pop can would weight that much though...

If the box he uses measures over 1 kg (cube weight), it is charged the expedited rate.

There is no "cubing" of small packet. As long as its within the max dimension of 90cm total L+W+H and max 60 cm on one side it goes small packet price for is weight. For a pop can to not qualify it would have to be one hell of a packing job 🙂

Canada Post increased their fuel surcharge rate on parcels last week, which is understandable. It's getting crazy out there. Since when did a hurricane in the States affect our own fuel reserves, on both gas and natural gas?

Canada DOES NOT have it's "own" supply, the worlds supply of petroleum belongs to anyone who has the money to pay for it.

You sell you gadgets to the highest bidder without regards to their location, you don't offer any special price to Canadians.

The only way to achieve a "special" price to Canadians for gas is by goverment regulation and/or subsidy, if this is what you want I would suggest moving to Venezuela where gas is about 4 cents per litre, unemployment runs about 17% and practically half the population lives in poverty.

Canada Post adjust the fuel surcharge on a monthly basis using the price of unleaded fuel as an index, the recent dramatic jump in gas prices (which has already almost returned to pre-Katrina levels) was partially in the last week of August and the first week of September, this will affect the monthly averages for August and September but not to the extent would be if the entire period was within a single calendar month. You should be thankful they don't use the price of Natural Gas as the index that would be really bad news.

To address the issue of the original post, this is a simple case where a postal clerk may not know their stuff, shipping an empty pop can via Small Packet costs CA$5.60 (air) or CA$3.95 (surface) (in very strong packaging) unless the OP is using a wooden crate to ship in. On the other hand if the OP is looking for a trackable service than about $11.00 is what it would cost.
