I decided to sell the cards and give the money to a charity. Why do I have to go through all these hoops to do so? Can't I sell my items and donate the money if I want to?

You can do whatever you want with your money.

You just can't advertise your sales are for a charity unless

you follow ebay policies.

Do that.  There is nothing preventing anyone from giving whatever amount of money to any charity.

However, there is no need to advertise the fact you are giving.  That is a private decision and should not be used to promote a listing.

Okay. I thought I had to get permission from the charity to donate. As long as I don't say what I am doing with the money then it's fine. Gotcha.
