Yippee.....I get a 5% discount this month. Are you kidding me??? I ship daily, and ALWAYS within 12-24 hours of payment. Instead of Detailed Seller Ratings, I can think of several much better acronyms for "DSR"...but I better keep them to myself....X-(

I guess I shouldn't complain, as I usually get the 20% discount, but this is unbelievable. How 'bout we get the 20% if we beat the eBay average instead?
Oh, but that might cost eBay too much $.
eBay is sure not too concerned with keeping sellers happy & motivated. -eBay...WAKE UP!!!!

Sorry to hear that Axe. The problem is that you are not a high-volume seller and one out of 50 buyers whacking you in a department will be enough to put a dent in your ratings.

Even at 45, and a relatively seasoned eBayer, I still can't believe the hoops we are expected to jump through for eBay..... If I shipped any faster, my items would burn up in the light speed as the space shuttle they fly on blasts through space! 😮

Oh well, I wouldn't be here if I wasn't making good money, and it sure beats other alternatives, thats's for sure!

My father-in-law, Hjalmar, passed on Sunday, a week ago. He was 3 months shy of being 102! His brother, Harry, passed on Sunday, two weeks ago...he was 100! There is one brother left who is 95 or 96.

There must be something in the Saskatchewanian water!

Couldn't agree more - got one low shipping time rating from an Australian who didn't have their package in 3 weeks when the quote was for a four to six week delivery - boom there went my 20% discount. I bend over backwards for customers, they bid on items knowing what the terms are for shipping then complain to eBay about them in low DSR's - if they don't like the shipping cost they shouldn't bid on the item.

Right on....and now Feebay is going to automatically give us a "5" rating for shipping costs if we give the buyer free shipping.
Free shipping may work for small low priced items with high profit margins (which I do have a few), but they won't lure me into that trap for my other stuff.

I would have to jack up the price by say 40 dollars or more to cover some or most of the shipping, and then pay fees on that too!!??!! .....riiiiight.....

I seem to remember reading that you had to provide tracking to get the automatic 5 star rating for shipping. It costs too much to send even high profit low priced items with tracking so I won't be going that route.

You are correct...you have to provide a tracking number so that eBay can see when you actually sent your item and when it was received in order to be eligible for the auto 5 stars.

I won't be going that way either except on limited shippings.

* Starting in November, when you specify 1-day handling time, upload tracking information by the end of the next business day after the buyer's payment clears, and we know your package arrived within 4 business days from when the buyer pays (or arrived by your estimated delivery if that was earlier), eBay will automatically rate the transaction with 5 stars for shipping time.
