Ebay needs to do something in regards to return policies once and for all.

The last two disputes opened on us were from one customer who wanted to return an item after a month of having it and the other had the item for almost two months. We sell used clothing.

I completely understand and agree with the fact that ebay requires us as sellers to have a return policy. We'd have one even if ebay didn't require it, it's just good business. We are also quite flexible and easy with ours...we give extensions at Christmas time and if a buyer contacts us not long after the 7 days we require we don't put up a fight.

But expecting us to accept returns after two months is ridiculous. I don't even think huger retailers would even accept that.

Overall I am happy with the opportunities that ebay has provided our company and in the past I have bit my tongue on the many things they just don't do right. But after 10 years of selling I am a little fed up that they are still doing too many things poorly. It's unacceptable.

If a buyer clicks on a button that means they accept the terms of the deal...we as sellers are held responsible for our end, customers should be as well. If a customer accepts a 7 day return policy, then if they want to return an item upon receipt, then they should respect the terms of the policy and contact for a return within 7 days. How hard would it be for ebay to add the software that a seller adds his tracking to show when an item was received and if the customer files a claim more than 7 days after that, then it is not accepted. Hell give an extra 7 days as a grace period, I'd be fine with that as well. But 30 and 60 days is completely unreasonable.

I'm not sure where you are getting the 60 days.

By then the 45 days Dispute deadline has passed.

Is your concern that a buyer can leave feedback, and DSRs, for up to 60 days?

I agree that there is a point after which a return is beyond reasonable . For your clothing, return shipping dated no more than 7 days after Delivery Confirmation sounds sensible. For my books, I would prefer 48 hours, because I read fast. :^O

I hope you are insisting on returns for refund and no partial refunds. While this doesn't stop FB and DSRs it does tend to discourage Buyer Remorse.

Another clothing seller has been plagued with returns too. Many respondents to her posts mention the "return after the party " syndrome.

Re: Ebay needs to do something in regards to return policies once and for all.

Dispute opened at 44 days, by the time I got my item back it was 58 days...so nearly two months as I said.

I have no concerns with dsr's or feedback, I just think it's unreasonable that someone can return an item a month and a half after they bought it. Basically it means our return policies aren't worth a damn and customers have no obligation to respect them.
