Get a load of this story: I sold an item to this buyer about a year and a half ago who copied it and reproduced it to sell on Ebay. He thought he was clever because he changed his user name and then bought materials with which to reproduce the item so I wouldn't notice. He then opened up a new account and started selling it. I noticed because it was obviously mine and all it took was a little research on my part to put the pieces together. I am no detective and have a pretty short attention span.
I informed Ebay about this and they said they would investigate. He stopped selling it shortly afterwards...until he changed his username yet again. I didn't notice this clever rouse for some time and of course hit the roof. I once again had to speak to Ebay and about 9 different morons who who had a hard time understanding the problem until finally someone told me they would "take him down". Well, that was 2 weeks ago and the clever rogue is still at it unhindered by the watchful eye of the ever-caring Ebay team. Another phone call and I was told not to worry, he would be dealt with, and that Ebay takes these sorts of things very seriously. I asked why the person, who obviously must use his real name to open a sellers account, just simply be booted off Ebay? He doesn't produce anything of his own and doesn't ad anything to the community. I didn't get an answer to that, but was reassured he would be dealt with harshly. That was a week ago. Nothing happened.
All the digital footprints are there connecting this guy to this, but no one apparently cares to connect the dots. What the hell is wrong here? This clown sells one thing and one thing only, my item that I made.

I am really sorry to hear you've had this experience with eBay. It doesn't give much reassurance to those few of us on this site who are artists or producers of original work. Sadly, my experience has been that eBay is a lot faster to crack down and take action against copyright infractions or knock-offs if your company name is Chanel or Dior.
I have my own bitter story on the subject of eBay and copyright protection, but I won't rant on about it here. Suffice it to say that all you can do, until some major changes are made by eBay in this respect, is continue to keep an eye on that seller and report him to eBay until they finally, hopefully take some notice. That is, unless your business is large enough and you have a few thousand dollars to spare to hire a trademark/copyright lawyer.

I think you are correct about Ebay having your back if you are a big company.
It would be really great if one of those Ebay people who troll around here would care to respond with something useful and insightful about this, rather than some cut and paste nonsense. You know that they would chime in pretty **bleep** fast if you type a curse word or something they feel distasteful.

Impressive work, really talented... so you yourself have permission to reproduce copyrighted characters from lucas(bobafet), marvel(red skull) and American media(planet apes)?

This could be the classis case of a pot calling the kettle black.

I think the curse words are removed by a bot.
Let's see. He was feeing **bleep** of the walk about his success.

Yep. Bot.

Big Brother everywhere, is it? What a **bleep**ty world it is, when you can't use a grand old 4-letter English curse word like **bleep**.
(Whoops - let's see if the bots got it).

By the way, you've probably noticed that 'toby**bleep**zu' gets bleeped out every time, I assume because the bot dictionary hasn't been programmed with the word for an expensive pedigree lap dog that originated with the Emperors of China.

And it's hilarious. Perhaps he will change his name to the eBay approved version some day.

Why ask a question that you already know the answer too? That is hardly the point I was making - I made these with my hands despite not having a license to do so. Ebay hasn't told me no. Some comes along and copies my work, which is clearly against Ebay policy, and he gets away with it. That is the point. Try and stay on target next time, no one likes a wise

Similar situation here.
I caught a seller on 2 separate occasions shilling bids on their own items. Reported both instances and was assured they would be dealt with.
They are still happily selling and shilling bids on their own items.
Ebay customer service/security is a total farce unless of course you are a small seller and make even the tiniest of honest mistakes at which point you will be subjected to everything short of burning bamboo shoots under your fingernails.
What a joke!
