This morning I cancelled a bid placed by a user who had registered a new Id only 24 hours ago. Tonight she asked me why and I replied:

Sure I can explain it. First of all let me tell you it has nothing to do with you. On May the 19th of this year Ebay changed it's policies in the following way:

After a purchase is made, the buyer can rate me on a scale of 1-5 on communication, description, delivery time and delivery price. The buyer can also leave a positive or negative feedback comment for the seller in the seller's feedback profile.

Previously I could have left a rating for the buyer as well,(positve, neutral or negative) detailing my experience. Now only the bidder gets to comment.

Which means that if a bidder buys an item, receives the item, and then comments that the item was not received, I would have that on my record, with no recourse.

Moreover, Paypal may also give the buyer their money back, and hold all my future payments for 3 weeks. It's just too dangerous a time on Ebay to do business with buyers who have just registered as they may not adequately understand the feedback system and it's ramifications for a seller.

We won't take bids from a buyer with no record unless Ebay changes the system back to one that is fair for both buyer and seller. Please email Ebay and tell them about your experience with us and the reason for it.

I wish you well and am sorry I can't sell anything to you or anyone else new on Ebay at this time. Kindest Regards,

PHIL

I can assure you, had I been treated that way when I first bought something on eBay, I would have closed my account and taken my business to another venue.

You can conduct your business any way you like but you are snubbing the very people that eBay is trying to encourage to buy on eBay - something that should benefit us all in the end.

Yup, I'm eliminating the newbies, who can't be trusted to understand the ramifications of a one sided feedback system.

Ebay's policies are making things harder for newbies, not easier. If I could leave feedback for a newbie, I would sell to them. If I can't forget it!!

Let them cut their teeth on everybody else's feedback profile, DSR scores, FVF discounts etc. Not mine.

I'm also tossing out bidders who have left too many negs for sellers in the past.

At least Ebay hasn't yet taken away the right to choose who I sell to.

Thats the next thing they will take away from us - the ability to choose who we sell too - we will soon be forced to sell to everyone and anyone they approve an acocunt for regardless of whether the information is accurate or not - infact they do not give a %$@^ if the account information is accurate or not just so long as they bid on a few items and generate cash for them.

A smart buyer will just snipe your auctions in the last seconds, pay immediately via PP and, if you don't deliver, you will be in seller non-performance mode.

I always get a kick out of those sellers whose auctions I snipe with my zero FB IDs and whose TOS state that one needs "permission" to bid if less than so-and-so FB]:)

Anybody can snipe auction at the last minute and you will have no time to cancel their bid.

Sure anyone can snipe at the last 10 seconds but does not mean you have to honor their purchase if they do not met your TOS.

We have refunded immediately on more than one occassion without any recourse from eBaY whatsoever.
