In case you haven't received an email yet (many of us are likely to get it too late to be of any use), both .com and .ca are running a promo today. I have 5 user ID's and none have them have yet to receive notice of this promo.

Details are here:

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/ca/200612.shtml#2006-12-22113923

I expect this poor notification based on .ca's redent track record but I'm really kinda surprised that .com dropped the ball on this one. Nice one eBay - throwing a party and forgetting to invite anyone...

One of the Pinks posted a notice on a couple of boards. They never sent people emails. The OP says they did but then the Pink came back and said oops, it wasn't.

I'm trying to think this through...

Why does eBay offer promotions? Despite what they may say to the contrary they are offered to increase their business. Sure, they may take a hit on listing fees but the sheer volume of extra listings and the increased final value fees more than compensates for the loss. So you would think that eBay would promote the heck out of upcoming promotions.

I do understand why they don't offer several days notice... no one would list at regular fees if they could foresee a promotion in the near future. The imbalance (no listings at all for an entire week and then a swamp-load on a single day) would be the ruination of the site.

But I don't understand when they keep it a big secret. Sure, a few people stumble across a notice somewhere in the vastness of eBay, but what's the point of the promo if only a dozen people know about it?

C'mon eBay... smarten up! The inconsistencies are starting to really frustrate sellers.

Maybe the eBay office party is to blame. A little to much revelling and someone forgot to hit the send button on the broadcast email.

Interesting Debbi...

An eBay pink makes the anouncement on the Selling board and on Canada Town Square but won't come near the Powersellers board. Once again, despite the volume of business that we do with eBay, Powersellers rank very low on .ca's totem pole.

This has been .ca's pattern since this board was started. Certainly not what they want us to believe when they say "We are proud to recognize their contributions to the success of the eBay Community!" (from the Canadian Powerseller portal).

Shameful...

surely ebay is aware of the failed previous attempts at the email notifications...and SURELY you would think they would have taken measures to correct...and SURELY it isn't rocket science, i have to conclude in MY MIND that this is deliberate,...why??? ...who the heck knows...
maybe they don't really make that much more money on promos? and they still want to show that they offer promos just to look like the good guys giving relief of ebay fees from time to time.
this isn't rocket science and this isn't that complicated...businesses are in business to make money, and if promos MAKE THEM MORE MONEY...you'd be sure they'd be on the ball on notifying us!

Could be the case but I really am beginning to thing that it is more a general ineptness of their part.

eBay pink Izzy started out by saying that everyone is getting an email notification and then backtracks and says that no one is getting an email notification. I don't think it is anything more cloak-and-dagger than an inability to organize a two-car funeral.

You got that right Bill! - Shameful!

If you think they ignore Power Sellers you guys should be a Voice of the Community of eBay Canada. zzzzzzzzzz

We've got cobwebs older than some of you guys! 😞 Voices are supposed to be important too. It's a sort of clandestine program. There's more info on the .com site. Nothing on .ca. They bring in a bunch of buyers and sellers to the eBay head office from across Canada to get our input on various things current and upcoming. We all have to sign confidentiality agreements so we can't give specifics on what was said but it is interesting.

.com does follow ups with their Voices to keep them updated all the way along and get their input. They even have direct access to some of the eBay big wigs. .ca does it once, gives you a discussion board, pays you lip service on how important you and your opinion are, then POOF. Nothing.

The Voices discussion board is so rarely visited by the Pinks that it's more than half filled with old locked announcement posts.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. eBay Canada is the ineffectual little brother of .com. :(
