Help with ***potential*** Nigerian customer? (Eek)

Hello. I received the following email this morning and it seems "suspicious" to me. I'd appreciate anybody else's take on it? 🙂

Thanks for your experience & time

Hello Sales,
I came through your site while browsing and on checking
what you have on it, i was impressed so i decided to
order some of the items. In this case i'll like to know
how much it'll cost to ship to it's destination,Lagos,Nigeria via FEDEX express.

Also i'll like to inform you that my means of payment is
through my American issued credit card/check, anyone that
you prefer out of the two payment method.

I'll like you to reply concerning my enquiry as soon as
you can.
Regards.

NB:I'll also like to know if you sell in large qty.

I wouldn't accept that form of payment. Alot of credit card fraud from those countries. I would either accept Paypal, cash, or an International money order drawn in your form of payment. Whenever you receive an e-mail to that effect it usually means someone has gotten ahold of a credit card number and is trying to use it as fraud.

Yes... my question has also just been answered. Kind of funny. I just received ANOTHER email from a DIFFERENT person, but the content is IDENTICAL to the original. 😛

Another one in the trash.

(Thanks for your response!)

If these emails come from registered eBay users through ASQ you should report them to eBay with full headers. This helps get them out of our hair. Mind you it will take at least 24 hours from them to get narued. You should also put them on your blocked bidder's list.

suspicious?

don't repsond. Just block and report as suggested.

Keep i mind you can't accept paypal from many countries. Nigeria is one of them. If youdo accept, you could lose your paypal account. And it would be a chargeback.

As for money orders, there are many fake ones coming out of Africa and South Asia. Wait for them to clear.

Rule of thumb, 99.99999% of all requests from Nigeria are fake.

Anyone who takes the risk for that .000001% that may be legitimate will be guaranteed to loose.

Go buy a lottery ticket as your chances of winning the jackpot every week for 10 weeks in a row is better than a single Nigerian deal being legitimate.

We get about 5 or more of these a day, " i will pay you an extra $200 if you ship by fedex bla bla bla and i will pay by western union, bla bla bla....

And some of them even have the nerve to actually bid and end our auctions.

Stay clear from those emails, dont even respond and just delete them..Malcolm has the right idea...love the lottery senario.

Good luck,
Moez.

Everyone gets these all with a slightly different slant but the same outcome, you ship, you loose. Its not worth posting their letters or we could fill the entire thread with tens of thousands of these.

They are as regular as pop ups.
